My Super Boxing Treble Bet !!! What you guys think??

Post by zeroprobe »

I know a fair bit about boxing. It's rare I predict a fight wrong so I'm using my knowledge to win a big bet. I thought I would post it here before the fights.

Zab Judah @ 7/2 to win Shane Mosley
Antonio Margarito @ 11/8 to win Miguel Cotto !!!
Roy Jones Jr @ 5/2 to win Joe Calzaghe

Trebles, 1 bet * £40 to win £1456.25

You probably think I am crazy betting these but I really feel they will win. Yes I am a big Joe Calzaghe fan and I am betting against him :) The fight has not been confirmed yet so fingers crossed the fight gets made before 2009 else my bet becomes void.

I'll keep this updated with the progress hehe. Wish me luck and what do you think of my choices

Yeah, crap odds on Margarito, especially as it is such a close fight. I got evens on ODLH to win on points, 8 rounds into the fight.

I think all three have a live chance, but its unlikely that all three will win, so I guess you're destined to be £40 out of pocket...

Judah is your weakest link, i just cannot see him beating Mosely. I do give Jones a good shout at beating Calzaghe but certainly would not bet on it. As for Margarito's chances, i've only seen him fight once or twice so wont comment to much, other than that he'll need to turn out something very special to beat Cotto!

I'll be very surprised if you collect on this bet!

I won't comment on your boxing knowledge, but your betting knowledge is suspect - you can get much better odds than that. Also, as the fights are so far apart (or indeed in one case, unscheduled), no point doing a treble - bet on each individually as they happen.

Incidentally, I think you have all three picks wrong.

I agree that you'll get one of the three correct, but 3 shocks is pushing it.

Go with Zab.

Sorry mate.. I have to jump on the bandwagon here.

I think you have all three wrong!

That, and I agree with Loynesy! Statistically multiple bets, although a lot of fun, just aren't worth it.

Over time you are always better off with singles, but lump on a bit more heavily if you have success with your earlier bets....

Unlikely overall, but not a bad selection, Zab over a well worn Mosley wouldn't be a huge surprise - and Margarito is dangerous for Cotto, unless Cotto is at his absolute best.
Jones over Calzaghe in Wales is a real long shot, but they're both old enough where weird results do happen.

From Bet 365. They had one of those live in play things where they update the odds as the fight goes along. Worth checking out because and doing doubles or trebles on.
Odds on Napa were still quite generous as the fight progressed got 4/7 for points win after a couple of rounds and 6/4 for the Munroe to win by KO 6 rounds in.
