I don't think you have to watch every minute of every fight to be a real boxing fan. You just have to know what is a good fight on paper, at all levels.
Also the trouble I often find with casual boxing fans is that they don't seem to be able to spot things that to most of us on here would seem obvious. Like the early signs or fatigue for example. Or what is a serious knockdown and what is a flash knockdown. Or why a fighter doesn't always try to finish an apparently hurt opponent. Or whether punches are landing cleanly or not. Or which boxer is guilty of instigating clinches. Or when a fighter knows he has the fight in the bag early on etc
Does this make me not a true boxing fan...?
If you're watching Sky then there's a fair chance you're witnessing grass roots rubbish with the occassional euro shot thrown in.
There's a place for those fights, prime time on the UK's wealthiest dedicated sports channel isn't it.
I'd struggle to close one hand counting the brit fighters worthy of top billing in that slot. Sky are a flock of tightfisted pricks and the garbage seen on Friday Fight Nights has duped you into thinking you're not a real fan for not appreciating a cheaply bought roster.
Sky dont give a crap about boxing, plain and simple. They might be giving exposure to hard working worthy men, but you can bet your arse it's down to thrift as opposed to good will.
