mundine at middleweight
Daman looked pretty fit on TV last night, sporting one of the worst haircuts in living memory, after his training stint in the good ole USA. But if he really has any intentions about dropping down to middleweight, the next bout against Sam at that level would have beeen a good indication on how he would go.
At middleweight, Sam would test him good and proper and not be out-gunned in giving away weight and size.

I posted a topic on current scene regarding a story on Sky Channel (Sky KO). I am not sure of it's validity but it says Mundine v Soliman is not being sanction by the WBA, is not for the title and Mundine will move to Middleweight after the fight...it went on to say Mundine had relinquished the belt......as I said, not sure how true it is...any enlighten me.
If Soliman beats Mundine (stranger things have happened, nobody expected Jersey Joe Walcott to take Ezzard Charles heavyweight title, especially as in the preceding years Walcott had lost twice to Charles and once to Rex Layne), what happens to that theory? A 12 x 3 minute rounds fight where both men make the weight, if the challenger wins, especially if the challenger KOs the Champion, could be embarrassing if the title is held up.

If WBA is not sanctioning this good for them and for us, finally mundine may be forced into fighting someone rated in the top ten at SM, no disrespect to Sam but he is a middle weight at best and should fight mund at that weight as was said earlier.

He is going down to middle so he doesn't have to fight Kessler again...Ross wrote:amwsnw wrote:I posted a topic on current scene regarding a story on Sky Channel (Sky KO). the fight is still at Super Middle on Boxrec. So, what is this fight going to be at? It makes sense to fight Soliman at MW, but that means little. If it is at SM, is Mundine planning on going down to M after that, vacating his title?Marlin wrote:He is going down to middle so he doesn't have to fight Kessler again...Ross wrote:amwsnw wrote:I posted a topic on current scene regarding a story on Sky Channel (Sky KO). Yeah word on the street is that the Soliman fight will be at super middle and Mundine will go down after that.
I'm guessing his middleweight debut will be against this guy:

Does this mean that Mundine is no longer a World Champ? I can only live in hope. By the way Sartisan has a win over Nievas, who was beaten by Mundine a while ago in a 'so-called' title challenge.Brute wrote:Looks like the WBA has declared the title vacant because Mundine is not fighting Kessler. a reply has been posted on current scene outlining the wba's stance on things. Seems Kesslers camp may have jumped the gun. WBA have sanctioned the bout, but Mundine must fight Kessler after Soliman. Anybody seen the Mundine interview on FOX sports ?? Mundine said he would only fight above Middleweight for 3 fights....Danny Green, Sakio Bika and Joe Calzaghe. I don't think it would be too had to set up a fight with Bika....and it would be interesting. Another interesting thing is Khoder Naser spending a lot of time with Greeny lately. I am aware Nasser is speaking at a Green luncheon next week, but that is a week away!! Could the luncheon be the place for a big announcement re a comeback and rematch??
Hopefully Sam will pull off an upset....

It is advertised as "One door closing, another opening" or something. It may be that Green is moving into managing fighters or expanding his promotions. He seemed pretty determined about retiring, but who knows?amwsnw wrote:a reply has been posted on current scene outlining the wba's stance on things. Seems Kesslers camp may have jumped the gun. It has been reported that Danny would want the front door key to Fort Knox to get back into the ring.
Mundine knows that another fight against Danny would be his biggest income earner (thanks to his reluctance to fight overseas) but stepping up from the purported drop to middleweight back to light-heavy could be a division too far.

a move to 160 would change nothing, people are throwing names around like winky, pavlik, taylor ect, but i dobut any of them would happen, it will be the same drill at 160 as it is at 168: fighting scrubs and one every two years or so fight someone decent.
the thing that pisses me off the most is, i would acctually support mundine if he went to the states and fought the top guys

Yeah, I would like to see an Aussie win a world title and 2 or 3 years ago i would have been barracking for Mundine like there was no tommorrow but I am just sick of his shit. He fights the biggest bums in the division and still talks like he is Willie Pep or Sugar Ray. He needs to get into the ring with some decent opponents and let his skills do the talking. At this point I just wanna see him KO'ed or suffer another shutout loss like he did against Kessler.p4p1 wrote:what you wouldnt like to see an aussie win a world title?calmac66 wrote:Hopefully it goes as well as his last trip to Germany.Sapphire wrote:I heard that there is "talk" of Mundine vs Sturm in Germany in August for the WBA Middleweight title
i can already see his excuse when calzaghe says he will fight him. he'll say we'll i was gonna kick calzaghe's ass, then king kong but i have moved down to middleweight now because you made me wait too long. lol.
then when calzaghe retires he'll say he is ready but calzaghe retired cause he's chicken. and use the same excuse for roy jones etc. etc.
