Kerey Palmer won the first 2, but was cut in 3rd (punch), which didn't help matters. Kani then worked on the cut, causing stoppage half way thru 5th.
Rematch is scheduled for July 19 in Melbourne.
On the same card
James Giltrow stopped Mhelvin Hernandez in 2nd
Chris Stewart outpointed Micah Rivetti over 4

Considering that there are six Australian Super Middleweights ranked in front of Kani, does it mean anything?

Probably not the number 1 supermiddle but a win is a win and was obviously santioned by the ANBF. Israel is a good bloke and congratulations to him as he has put in the hard yards for a number of years.

It's actually 5. But they are not interested in OZ title 'cos they've either been there & done that or ineligible as they are regional titlists.

I still think the national champion should be the best at his weight, whether he holds an international title or not.

True, but there is a reason we (ANBF) don't allow regional, international titlists to hold our National title in the same weight divvy at the same time.
Personally, I think they shouldn't be included in the ratings.
