Some funny comments from tonight-

Duke- " Murray needs to put his finger on the gas.. "
" 10 years Witter's Junior "
Jim- " ... A very, very Polish fighter... " means what?

Tim- " Yeah, I've been studying Wittyer for a whole year "

Did anyone catch Jim's comments that accidently were on air around midnight?

Hagler, Leonard, Roy Jones, PRIME Hopkins.... yeah right!

Not sure why the capital letters for 'PRIME Hopkins', Joe would have beaten him at whatever stage of his career they fought.

Leonard and 'PRIME RJJ' is another matter, though i wouldn't say Calzaghe was totally out of his depth with either

Bit of a badly organised programme from ITV. Started with an 8 round on ITV 4, meaning they spent the 20 minutes after that showing previews, that were just going to be repeated on ITV 1 anyway. Now they are showing a reply of the Witter fight's last round.

Annoying really, sounds like there were some good bouts on that card, I wish they had shown more than a few seconds of them.

I have no interest in hearing anything McGuigan has to say these days. The shite that comes out of his mouth is cringeworthy and embarassing.

Even my old man, who is only a very casual fan and doesn't know a massive amount about the sport, said what shit McGuigan talks.

Size doesn't matter when the talent disparity is as great as it it there. Same with Hagler AND Hopkins. Joe is lucky to be fighting in this era.

Oh max....

Get yourself some copies of the great 80's middleweights and tell me how in hell Joe would have beaten the likes of Hagler and Leonard. Hopkins in his prime would have beaten Calzaghe by 6 or so rounds.... a version far removed from his prime nearly did it. A prime Roy Jones would have beaten him convincingly too.

Calzaghe is a very good fighter, no question. But lets have some unbiased perspective here.

Yes Leonard is an all time great, no doubt about it. As is Jones jr, imo one of the best boxers ever to walk the planet. But that doesn't mean Calzaghe wouldn't have a chance with them.

I'd say any fights between the three of them would be pretty hard to pick

Well I'll agree to disagree as their fight showed.... thats why I stressed it.

Joe wouldn't have won a round against a prime Jones..... thats no disrespect to Joe - not many would have.

Joe's being compared with 3 of the absolute best - IMO - Joe isn't in the top 10 fighters of the last 15 years.

Exactly. Joe's a very instinctive fighter. Does a lot of great things naturally. Jones, Leonard, Hopkins et al were great thinking fighters with massive amounts of guile. They knew how to shut guys down whatever the style. Joe would be found wanting just as he was against a 43 year old Hopkins. Joe's just not on that kind of level, no matter how much the ITV propoganda machine try to tell you he is. He'll never go down in history on the same page as Jones, Leonard or even Hopkins.

Look mate, Calzaghe took won on a pretty controversial decision against a 43 year old Hopkins.

A Prime Hopkins would have destroyed Calzaghe.

I thought he was even worse last night than he usually is. He seemed a bit lost for words after the Witter fight.
