Kelly Oliver??
Kelly Oliver??
What ever happend to this guy?
Good fighter. Went unbeaten in 14 fights before the rugged and underrated John "Buster" Keeton did him in two rounds. That was a massive setback, but he regrouped and later got a crack at Sebastian Rothmann's WBU cruiser title in South Africa and was stopped in 10 (no disgrace there). Subsequently did time in a big house for assaulting some bloke on a petrol station, and returned with a win over Tony Booth last July.
Still only 30, there's not many four-time ABA champions who have achieved as little as he has in the pro sport. Hopefully, he can came again.

Thats his record, I thought it was later than July when he returned - needs to fight some more. He is a very strong devision with plenty of money to be made.

Don't think he did. I remember watching their fight in the ABAs on the beeb. Did Dodd eventually net an ABA title in between Oliver's of success.Lickszz wrote:What happened to his old amateur rival Anthony Todd? Did he ever go pro?
I remember Todd as a neat boxing, solidly built southpaw with decent skills, maybe lacking a bit in speed. Good fighter though.

I am sure he did win an ABA titles one year. I remember when he had a war with Kelly in the final and lost a points decision. Kelly was then ABA champion but it was Todd who was flying out to represent England at the games the next day and not Kelly.
