In the three first letters of the signature, I see "Ado..."

At that time (between the ends of '30 and the first half of the '40), as European Champions with this name's root, were

Adolf Heuser
Adrien Anneet (?)
Aldo Spoldi

Good spot harry I only noticed Ado. Being of Irish stock myself I thought he looked Italian. Not enough hair on that body of his to be a 'paddy' :TU:

Could the first name possibly be Paolo?

You sarky ol' git. :TU:

When I say Italian I mean ethnically. I don't suppose it's possible that Marciano, Graziano, La Motta etc ever signed a photo with Best Wishes on it either. :box: :TU:

someones sent me the image to see if i could help find out who it was. the first name is Paddy and it was printed in Mogadishu, Somalia during ww2. the guy who owned the photo was stationed there for a while,he was in the army but no details on which regiment.

the belt may well be something to do with the army, some sort of army or inter service award. on the front it has 2 guys boxing apparently.the surname I am told is very faded and could be something like Adair

I blew it up, but it blurs. First name looks like Paddy and the next three letters could be ADO or ACH. Did the services have belts not cups or trophies during the war? Belt looks a little like one worn by Colin Bell of Austalia. No US eagle as you'd expect on an American belt. Sentiment is in English, so likely a member of the Empire? Maybe a South Afrikan or Australian/New Zealand boxer?
