Facey to defend English title against Wayne Alexander

Post by bennie »

Andrew Facey is almost certainly defending his English light-middleweight title against Wayne Alexander on the Alex Arthur bill at Edinburgh on March 27.
It's a replacement match for the Earl-Vanzie, which was postponed recently.

I thought Facey was taking on Pinder for the English Middleweight title on the 12th ?

It is an interesting fight, I'll go for Alexander to stop him though. Although Wayne is a tad chinny and runs out of gas quicker than Tyson runs out of money I still think he'll get to Facey before the 5th.

I tell you what, I've watched Facey and if he'd been got to when he was younger he could have been a top domestic fighter. His big problem is he just can't keep his chin down. If (like a lot of Ingle fighters) he could have his defence sorted so he can roll under and move his head side to side, instead of straight back, he'd not get hit so much. His chin isn't that bad, it's just that it's hung out to dry all the time, which will mean he's in big trouble against Wayne. However, if he can get one in first you never know, because Wayne's not exactly the sturdiest chinwise.

Exciting fight but I can see Wayne really nailing him.

Nothing is ever 100 per cent as you know Kieran, but Pinder is apparently now boxing a six-rounder with Patrice Sito (who held Jacko to a draw recently) on the Nottingham show.
Facey perhaps decided the match at middleweight was too risky.

Just spoken to Andrew, and he's looking at a rematch with Matt Macklin in defence of his English title and won't be fighting Wayne Alexander on March 27. The Pinder fight is definitely off.
