Looking for a Bobby Chacon interview....

Post by silkov »

Some years ago (about 6 or 7) a freind of mine gave me a print out of a interview with Bobby Chacon that was carried out on the internet in the early or mid 90s... alas I ve since moved and lost trace of that interveiw and wonder if anyone on this forum has the interview in question. It was about 8 pages long so quite a long interview. It'd be great if someone could scan a copy of it onto this forum for me if they have it...

Have you done a google search for the article? I know I've read a few interviews with Chacon online. Can you be more specific? What was discussed in this particular interview?

He was discussing his career, saying how Olivares was the best he'd ever fought and discussing others. He was saying how he didn't train properly in the 70s and that he regretted it, he also talked about his illfated marriage (after Valorie committed suicide) and how he regretted that as she was just after his money. He also talked about the rumours over his health and said 'tell everyone Bobby Chacon is ok and sharp as a button'... he mentioned also that he was living at his mothers.
What is the best way of doing a Google search for older stuff like this Crooked Nose?.... I ve only been able to track a few bits and peices on Chacon and would like to get everything I can on him. Cheers!.

Silkov, here are some links to Chacon stories/interviews:
http://www.boxingsfinest.com/news/2003/aug/chacon.htm
http://www.fact-index.com/b/bo/bobby_chacon.html
usatoday.com/sports/other/sobx011.htm

Some of these are older. I do recall tha most recent story I read about Bobby said things have gotten even worse - he's not with that hoel and youth organization anymore. Can't recall where I saw that one. Maybe searching the online archives of some LA newspapers might work. Hope this helps. If you find anything else good, lemme know.

There is a nice piece that HBO's Real Sports, with Bryant Gumble. did on Chacon and Little Red a couple of years ago. It covers several of the points mentioned here. I definitely recommend it.

Does HBO.com have an archive? Do you know where can I find just a transcript of the story?

I do not know that. I have a copy of it and could reproduce it for you as soon as my desk clears up. Where in Illinois are you?

OK, let's do the following. Since more than one are interested, I will ship it to Dutch Windmill in a few days so that he can put it up on his server and anyone could download.
