Guzman can't stop Arthur from winning that title

It's weird.

Stories leak that Arthur will pull out.

Then Guzman cannot get a Visa. For several days this rumour persisted and Guzman did not say "these rumours are nonsense" as AA did about his own rumours.

Then afterward, after it has been rescheduled, Guzman says, hey what's happening, I'm ok to fight on the old date.

...and then moves to 135.

Something's not right in the state of Denmark.

Sorry but Guzman has a past record of pulling out of fights, so its hard to believe him this time.

Think you'd need Mulder and Scully to really get to the truth.

Farcical.

Ach well. Don't begrudge Arthur stringing a few together I suppose. Some great household names in the rankings there - Ronny McField, Alisher Rahimov to name but two. Doubtless Frank will get Mitchell in their whenever Arthur starts to look vulnarable.

I'm quite looking forward to all the Brit fights at 130. There's a few at 135 as well though last week we lost one such great fight.

If all these guys start/lkeep on fighting each other, there will be superb fights, better money, and one of these 2 divisions will produce a "superfight" opponent for Khan if/when Khan is world champ.

The great fights already have started - Katsidis-Earl, Johanesson-Gomez, Mitchell-Johanesson, Arthur-Foster Jr - and they might get even better. So let's not get too upset that they're not real world title fights because all this can lead to something positive.

Guman's also suffering some kind of personal tragedy as well - I read - I think - that his mother has developed a tumor in her head.

Is it true Arthur can no longer make super feather - that he could have made it for neither the original nor the rescheduled date?

If so, where does he go from here? British and Euro title mix at lightweight? Or a Khan opponent? Because I can't see them playing the world title rating game anymore with Khan hogging the limelight at lightweight.

Can anyone verify if Arthur can or cannot make super feather anymore and what he's gaeing to dae next?

It not really good for the fighters in long run, they not proving themselves at top level, good for the bank balances though.

It does feel odd, a great potential British round robin not for the British title but perhaps for a WBO title.

But can Arthur make the weight?

Will he have to be matched in his 1st defence vs a Warren fighter so that Warren keeps the WBO belt to be contested between his fighters?

I will really look forward to the fights however and a WBO strap - as bogus as it may be in this case - gives the combatants something extra to compete for, brings a bigger crowd and an extra good atmosphere.

It's better than everyone going in different directions for different titles i.e. WBO, WBU, IBO, etc.

Arthur v Mitchell in Sept I reckon in London. It should be the no 2 but the wbo are known to make strange decisions

If Arthur was going to be such an easy fight for him , as Guzman had been going around saying then why wouldn't he have come over and picked up some easy money.
So now U want to blame him for the Harrison fiasco?
Sounds like more Wankie Panky to me.
Isn’t the promoter’s duty to see that the visa is taken care of?

There’s more than one side to the story ignored by the Britt press.

So Guzman will be number 1 at lightweight with the WBO then, that title shot for Khan is looking further and further away. Maybe he should fight some contenders to get himself back up there??

Even Guzmans promoter Gibbons said in that statement that it would be like free money fighting Arthur, he would have earned $168,000.

So lets see who he fights and what Guzman earns in his next fight, because its certainly not going to be against Campbell, Casamayor, Pacquiao or Diaz.

He'll end up getting chump change against some nobody.

Well, the WBO have made Guzman #1 contender so he'll be fighting Campbell before you know it.

So you'd have him waiting around for Warren to make his next move? They said they have been chasing FW but unable to get hold of him, last they heard was July which is a big delay. Guzman struggles with the weight and his mother has just got ill. As we've seen the other excuses were all ready before the Visa one feel into their laps. Why does this mean the fight has to be delayed by at least 3 months?

Frank has got just what he wanted by Guzman dropping out, Arthur will be given the title and aloud to defend it against Mitchell. Jobs a goodun

Well here's the April rankings of WBO, i can't see Guzman getting the No.1 ranking . The boxers at the top are all with big promoters, so they aren't going to let their boxer drop down without a protest.

1 Anthony Peterson USA
2 Amir Khan GB
3 Juan Diaz USA
4 Michael Katsidis AUST
5 Almazvek Raimkulov KYR
6 Urbano Antillon MEX
7 Jorge Terron (NABO) JPN
8 Jose Reyes (Latino) PR
9 Zahir Raheem USA
10 Martin Kristjansen DEN
11 Yuri Romanov BEL
12 Eduardo Roman (Latino-Int) ARG
13 Kengo Nagashima JPN
14 Raymundo Beltran MEX

If you read the article blue posted Ian. It states that the WBO have given assurances to team Guzman that he would be installed as WBO number 1 at the higher weight.

A verbal agreement between a promoter and a boss of a boxing governing body, hardly legally binding.

Campbell and Casamayor are boxing each other next , that fight has gone out to purse bids, and will take place sometime in mid/late summer.
Also Juan Manuel Marquez has been offered as an opponent for Campbell.

Casamayor could also have a proposed fight with Juan Diaz in September.
Add to that David Diaz fighting Pacquaio, at the end of June. the winner of that one won't fight again to at least September.

Of course Guzman could go down the WBA title route, as Campbell is the 'super champion', the WBA title is held by one Jose Alfaro who fights later this week i think.
