The Fewkes-Murray fight is a pick em IMO, I won't be touching either at those prices.

Tim Bradley is pretty much unknown, so it's a very speculative bet, but 12/1 on a points win seems very generous, because if he's got an excellent chin and good workrate he could push Junior close. I don't know if I'll back it tbh, because I don't want to have split loyalties whilst the fight is on, but a sneaky fiver on it could ease my pain if the unthinkable happens

Junior Witter defends his prestigious WBC light-welterweight title against American Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley, the mandatory, on Saturday in Nottingham.
Witter comes off a stunning knockout of respected Vivian Harris (Bradley's promotional stablemate in the Gary Shaw camp) in Doncaster in September to remind everyone what an underrated champion he is, especially in the States, where Harris enjoys(ed) a sizeable reputation. Witter bamboozled the Brooklyn man in the early rounds in typical Wincobank fashion, before finishing him with a big left hook in the seventh. It reignited calls for a Battle of Britain between Witter and Ricky Hatton, but the Manchester Hitman, who fights a battle-worn Mexican later this month, insists it will never happen.
"Witter has made a career for himself on slagging me off," said Hatton, frequently labelled a "coward" by his rival. "When someone slags you off, you don't repay them by giving them their best payday."
More recently Hatton revealed: "I was half-contemplating fighting him but it all changed at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards last year in Birmingham. They got me up, Joe Calzaghe, Enzo Maccarinelli, Clinton Woods and Witter. We all walked to the stage and I shook hands with them all. Witter leaned over to me and whispered 'One day.' I just thought, 'You’ve just peed that up against the wall there.' I really was thinking about getting in the ring with him."
Countered Witter: "It's got to be the worst excuse Hatton has come up with yet, and there have been plenty of them, but what I said obviously made a lasting impression."
Maybe the real truth is, Witter is just too good for his own good. Currently on a winning run of 21 (17 early), the quick, slick, heavy-handed Bradford switch-hitter has lost only to brash Zab Judah in 39 outings in a short-notice stab at the IBF title back in 2000 and holds a win over current WBA light-welterweight champion Andreas Kotelnik. He won the WBC title, the biggest in boxing, by hurting and outscoring slick American southpaw DeMarcus Corley in September 2006 but has defended just twice in the 20 months since: taking out Mexican Arturo Morua in nine rounds and the established Harris, both last year (when Hatton cashed in against Mayweather). He was due to defend against Philadelphia's Demetrius Hopkins in California in March but Hopkins, nephew of prickly Bernard, fancied it about as much as Hatton and made his excuses. NOBODY is queuing to take on this guy (shades of Carl Froch on the same bill). Clearly, Witter deserves a big fight but settles for the unheralded but unbeaten Bradley, of Palm Springs in California, an aggressive, muscular, two-fisted crowdpleaser who has done nothing wrong in his career to date but turned pro less than four years ago, was still boxing eight-rounders up to last year, remains untested and has never fought outside California.
He holds something called the WBC Youth light-welterweight title.
Ironically, Bradley was due to step up against Mexico's Jose Luis Castillo in a 12-rounder (his first) earlier this year in Mexico but Castillo, yet again, came in overweight and the fight was scrapped.
"It hurts the sport bad, and something needs to be done to Castillo," said Bradley. "He needs to be suspended. He needs to vanish from boxing. We don't need to see his name in the ratings."
WBC president Jose Sulaiman consoled Bradley with the No. 1 slot to Witter, guaranteeing him this shot, but the American hasn't necessarily earned pole position and surprise, surprise has strong Mexican connections (Sulaiman is Mexican and horribly pro-Mexican). Bradley is trained by Joel Diaz, a former world title challenger and brother of former IBF lightweight champion Julio Diaz.
Anyway, back directly to the challenger. The 24-year-old Bradley turned pro in August 2004 (Witter, in January 1997) and has raced to 21 wins as he works away feverishly to head and body. He scored a useful win over Mexico's previously unbeaten Miguel Vazquez last time out (a lopsided 10-round decision) and comprehensively outscored Denver's decent Donald Camarena in another 10-rounder before that. That's about it as far as 'name' opponents go and thanks to Castillo (or no thanks) Bradley has been out since last July.
Yes it's hard to judge the worth of an unbeaten fighter, but Bradley does look made for the tricky, counterpunching Witter: he's stocky, aggressive, not a great puncher, willing to take one to land one, a bit rusty and facing his toughest test and his first 12-rounder a long, long way from sunny California.
Still, to counter all that, the American is 10 years younger than the the 34-year-old champion and a strong, hardworking, improving light-welterweight capable of negating an opponent's work and, potentially at least, one of those dark horses. He looks in fantastic shape.
But the American's lack of top-level experience favours the champion. If Witter can beat Harris, he can beat Bradley.

5/1 for a Bradley win, is not a bad price. Although i favour Witter to win, he is 34 and could turn old over night.

Yeah defo worth a punt. With these unbeaten fighters you never know how good they really are until they step up...they could prove exceptional or a flop but you just don't know which is why Bradley is worth a fiver. Plus Harris fight aside Witter has looked pretty shite of late lets be honest - Kotelnik, Morua, Corley and Lynes - all pretty unconvicing performances. No value in the Froch fight - they have Froch to win by ko at 1/12 or 12 to 1 on! And they've given the under over prop of 5.5rnds. Very clever you bastard bookies!

Yeah, I think so... anyone who beats Augustus comfortably cannot be that bad.

Edit: Just checked - he didn't fight Augustus... oops.

I played Bradley earlier in the week at 14-1. :TU: Feel sorry for Witter though. But would have been a disgrace if Bradley didnt get the nod - I had Bradley by a mile.

if i had a house id be putting it on a branco win.in britain id go for lynes having faith in his jab, solid boxing skills, and intelligence.branco is no mug either.they will have looked at lynes in detail and will have worked on a plan to spoil, harass, negate, niggle, and cheat their way to a decision paid for in hookers, gifts, favours, and cash.the ref will penalise lynes at every opportunity, hold up the action when branco is struggling, and look to stop the fight should lynes be hit by four unanswered punches.the timing of rounds may be altered in brancos favour also.take into account also the fact that the italians are not averse to drugging food, water, hotels, and changing rooms...and the other branco family speciality-heavy intimidation and a huge mafioso entourage .
lynes seems to lack world class ko power ,which is what it takes to get cagey old branco out of there. if branco is still standing at the end of the fight he will be the winner.

Yeah looking at the line my bookies have I'm just gonna do a couple of parlays of fights this weekend with Lynes in one and Branco in the other to cover myself. Not a fight I would bet much on since as you say its in Italy and you get some terrible officiating there. I mean all countries can be bad inc. Britain but Ive consistently seen bad/biased officiating in Italy. The only other place which may be as bad is Spain - I watched Esham Pickering win every round against a prospect out the only to loose a UD! :o

Not that I've seen.

I've been very impressed with Lynes of late, he'll box Brancos ears off and hopefully stop him late

Lynes has it all to do.

The points odds, 13/2 for CL and 5/2 for Branco reflect that.

Noticed odds for hatton have shortened , now 1/7 with WHill. Is this value being others have him 1/10 and 1/12. Lazcano could make it competitive, and he will be up for it.

If you're just betting on Ricky to win at 1/7 you're gonna have to bet BIG to make anything worthwhile. There's money to be made though if you can predict whether or not 'Money Hatton' will stop him, it'll be a Pts win for the Money IMO, but I might have a tipple on a late stoppage especially if Mickey Vann gets the job
