None of us like to see a champ crowned this way. However is anyone looking forward to all the good British fights?

Which one of Warren's fighters will be most capable of keeping and defending the belt? I have a feeling that it's going to pass hands a lot.

Damn shame Khan can't make 130, no?

To make this belt credible we need unifications. Not against the weak South African fighters. But against someone who will win a belt like Humberto Soto.

I am looking forward to the good British fights, but if you put Humberto Soto in the mix, the belt won't stay in British hands for long. He's a different class. Would like to see him come over and challenge for it.

What saddens me is that people have automatically gone to the WBO default of British fighter instead of challengers from around the world.

We all know it'll happen, though.

Sure, by definition. But it's like saying Carlton Palmer was an England international. The WBO is just the same as the WBU, WBF, IBO and all those other Sky Sports belt we had to put up with in recent times. FWarren has way to much of a say in that organisation for my liking and it's too 'in house' for any of their world champions to be taken seriously. No organisation is perfect, but the WBO is not on the same level as the WBC/WBA/IBF titles.
Nah mate it might be the lesser of the main belts, but its a league above WBU, WBF and IBO lol. WBO has had some very good modern day boxers - Naseem, DLH, Barerra, Benn, Calzaghe, Eubank, Klitschkos...
Unfortunately you can count the number of genuinely massive fights contested for a WBO bauble on one hand. Poor belt, poor rankings and generally poor champions holding it. Naz, Klitschko and Calzaghe benefited from and to some extent abused the poor rankings. De La Hoya and Barrera used the thing as a stepping stone early in their career. Their big and important fights came when contesting other titles. The WBO title just doesn't carry the luster of the other organisations and many overseas (read Americans) have even mentioned this when the subject's been brought up.

I'm sure Arthur is bright enough to be actually embarrassed by the shameless way his promoter has pulled the WBO strings here.

Sidestepping actually having him fight for a world title, and gifting him a dodgy fake one instead.

You would think he'd be embarrassed to become champion this year when he's not even had a fight since last year! The quotes attributed to him, however, would suggest otherwise.

Could he be the only man to win a world title without fighting for it and then be unable to make a defence because he cant make weight.

Could he be introduced the as "the former undefeated super....." if he did?

I know his monicker of the "Amazing" Alex Arthur makes him sound like a magician, but a now-you-see-it, now-you-don't phantom reign at 130 would be quite a feat.

Koba Gogoladze knocked out in one last night.

What does that say about Arthur?

Arthur is good but he won't show his best unless he moves up, which can't happen just yet given he's the WBO champion of the whole wide world.

I should Coco more like.

Arthur (or rather SN's PR more likely), has some brass bollocks if he's brazen enough to come out with that claptrap.

Nothing to see here, move along, let's talk about some real world champions, not this utter farce.

Nothing against Arthur, he's just a pro plying his trade, and good luck to him if he can make some money with the belt, but this stinks to high heaven.
