Step up for Macklin.

This has fight of the year contender written all over it..... but it looks like fringe contender, Willie Gibbs, will be facing Macklin on the undercard of Ben Dunne's fight in Ireland on the 12th of July.

Gibbs has chilling power with 16 of his 20 victims not seeing the final bell. He can be hurt though - 2 of his 3 defeats have been by stoppage.... to former World title challenger Edison Miranda (in a round) and to the decent Daniel Eduard.

He lost his last fight in a close UD to another fringe contender, Raymond Joval.

Both men have thrilled their fans with fghts of the year previously.

Should be a cracker.

though you would expect Macklin to win it really, if he has designs on a world title in the future, he carnt really afford any more slipups.....

Yes, if Macklin is world class.

But the only title he has won so far is the Irish title.

Is he world class? Is he European Class? Is he even British title class at Middleweight?

I agree, this fight should give us a bigger clue about how good Macklin really is.

Bumped into a lad in London this week that I used to knock about with... he got his iPod out and went about showing me some "great" new rap. Who buys that shite? Apart from your mate. I've a soft spot for Jay-Z ('Some People Hate' would be good to come out to) but that is as far as I go in that direction.

'Fazers', and that whole album in fact, sounds so much louder than anything else I've got on my PC. They must have cranked it right up. That and 'Krazy World' are mad songs. Want to get MF's first album but it is very rare and very dear.

Jay Z and Naz have both had their moments...

Is that Operation Doomsday or the really early stuff he did with his brother? I haven't heard any of that??

To keep this slightly on track... Gibbs should come in to some Doom, as should Macklin

Yep, better get back on track, Gibbs must be a DOOM fan, he might come out to a banger.

The fight itself should be a good win for Macklin. He can out-box the guy, has a solid chin (the Moore KO was exhaustion), can close the ring well and has heavy hands. It is all there for him to impress in this fight. It is a real fan friendly clash.

Macklin will come out to fiddly-diddly music though

I think he's South London, but moved when he was young. It was something like that, I know it got pulled... and then he went on a bit of a bender after what happened with his brother, and then re-appeared as Doom.

This went from being about Macklin to a G-Unit reunion!

He's not world class IMO, but he has it in him to win a Euro title. Like others have said, this will show us how good he really is.

Gibbs is a banger and dangerous, no doubt. Would like to see Matt mix up his boxing as he did against Campas. Makes for a less exciting fight but gives him a better chance of winning.

MAcklin should be good for a points win here I think.

I Dont know if this is news for you but macklin is no longer fighting on the dunne undercard. Does anybody know what happend? Has it been postponed? I was really looking foward to see could macklin come through this one.

Not sure Macklin is really that good to be honest but i think he has the tools to defuse Gibbs. I think he could be an improver though and may get a crack at Duddy or Lee at some point in the future?
