Harrison v Estrada

Post by Shirow »

Hmmm not impressed by Harrison.

I can't help feel that has settled for the fact that the only reason he can beat his opponents is based on his size. (A chill runs down my spine everytime i see him at the weigh-in.)

He neglects his defence and just rains in swinging hooks for the most part. Plus his accuracy looks much less impressive when faced with a moving target.

But the fact is that he does keep winning so why not a fight with Barrera?
He's facing a journeyman in his next fight and expect he will want a fringe top guy to fight next. I'm sure MAB might see Scott as the safest route back to the top.
Am i right?

Realised just how hard Harrison hits I reckon. I think Harrison will fight Abelyan next and then may fight the winner of Brodie v Chi.

Barrera is in a class above Harrison, as are Marquez and Pacquiao (for diplomacy's sake let me assert that they are also a class above Brodie-who I believe to be the Isles' premier feather-as well)

Yeah it would be nice to see Brodie v Harrison should Brodie win but Brodie is already looking at a bigmoney fight with Barerra. I think Pacquaio is a class above every single Featherweight about right now he tore Barerra to shreds which hasnt happened before.

Scott Harrison showed vulnerability to body shots today and was very flummuxed by the style. I really did think he was booked for a heavy defeat (and the old flu escuses would come out) when his opponent just folded. Harrison was hurt, was shocked and just could get in - I don't know if Estrada was thumbed in the eye (cause he was blinking in the fourth and seemed to be complaining about his eye in the corner), but I can't really give Harrison the credit that most will for turning it round - the guy looked like he quit to me.

Harrison doesn't like being the smaller guy, it doens't bode well for Chi or Marquez does it? They won't crumble.

He won, but it wasn't at all impressive - this guy was outclassing him.

It would be a good fight for Gainer to take, cause you must tip him to beat Scott on that display.

Jim Watt was probably right when he said that Estrada had trained for 4 rounds

He only had aweek as well remember. Losing 3 rounds to a guy who has had that long to prepare when uv been preparing for 6odd weeks aint too convincing. I think Estrada may have just thought go balls to the wall for 4 rounds.

Probably right....although, it is always a good idea to train for a hard figth whether you have one planned or not.

Look at Steve Robinson winning that very same title that Harrison has now. Stepped in at a few days notice and grasped the title!

I wouldn't have thought I only trained for a four rounder, the gym he goes to sounds like one hard place, I would have thought all of them were pretty well trained.

A big lad making Feather that easily? Did he just have a guts full.

Scott Harrison better avoid Derrick Gainer, Scott's not a devasting as Marquez and Gainer is a rangy southpaw whose better than Estrada - it would be a horrible fight for Scott.

Harrison will more than likely fight Abelyan next and then go for a unification fight which is where I see him being found out unless he tightens his defence up. Its all well and good having a good chin but with Pacquaio being so fast can have the best chin in the World and still end up on your back.

I agree....he looks so stiff and easy to hit; no head movement.

The main reason why I think Brodie is Britains best Featherweight, although Brodies face pffs right up after about 3 rounds usually its like somebody pulls the ripcord on a f*cking dingy.

It depends on the distance of the fight he was training for...training for title fights(12 rounders) are a world apart from training for non-title fights.

Watch out for Stephen Foster the current English Featherweight champ. Unbeaten in 15fights and only 23.

joking aside its worrying how easily he marks up these days  he always has been prone to those swellings but its going out of control now. even that cabbrera fight where he put on a masterclass he looked bad at the end.

one word of advice for brodie in this chi fight is to grow that hair so that if u clash heads the likelyhood of picking up a cut is less

Yeah just look at the cut right on the back of the head so clearly caused by a non boxingglove source. That was a brutal fight and Chis face didnt seem anywhere near as bad.

i might actually put a thread up on brodie's hair length  cos thats one way to stop a cut if u clash heads  u never get cut if u have some growth there to cushion the blow. :D

cos the way brodie marks and cuts so easy he needs all the advantages he can get.

Maybe he could grow a really long fringe that would completely cover his face then he would look good as new no matter what.

Shirow, didnt you notice that Estrada was two inches bigger than Scott & had a longer reach?
Harrison did brilliantly tonight beating a dangerous big punching opponent who lets not forget had never been stopped, credit where credits due

totally agree, he quit, the knockdowns were more of a result of Estrada choosing to go down (first one was a push), god knows why, he was handling Harrison easily and had hurt him a couple of times, that cut was caused by the heads banging together so maybe that was something to do with it....either that or Estrada had flu ;)
I also agree with your take on the body shots, feather fisted Medina even hurt him to the body in the first fight and you even saw a few glimpses of Harrison backing off from a body shot in their rematch.
