Chauncy hasnt fought for a number of reasons since he met Seiaute Mailata here in NZ June/July last year. At this stage we are looking at a rematch with Mailata or a fight with Daniel Tai 15-4-1. The Haumono fight is one we have wanted for a while however at this stage we are just looking at getting Chauncy back in the ring and shaking some rust.

Yea you bet, he hasnt fought due to scheduled fights falling through and personal grievance, he's back in training now and looking forward to getting back into the ring June 28th, with a possibility of another fight July 10th.

Hey N2 Shape, according to the PABA website Chauncy is ranked no.1 PABA heavyweight. Once he has had a few fights to get rid of ring rust, is the PABA belt something he would chase?
Dennis Bakhtov is fighting Juho Haapoja for the vacant belt tomorrow. Would fighting the winner for the belt be a good idea?

Yes obviously the PABA is something that would interest us, especially as Chauncy is ranked #1 as you have touched on. However its not high on the priority list at this stage, like I mentioned previously Chauncy just needs some ringtime right now and hopefully that will happen June 28th and with a bit of luck July 10th as well. After those dates his focus will be on a WBC Native American title fight scheduled for September.

Speaking of a Native American title, I was reading some time back about the "Great White Hope" furore of the early 20th century. Some people in the American press went so far as to have a "White Heavyweight Champion." One holder of the title was Luther McCarty, a Native American. I thought it was strange. Twenty years before that he would have been called a "murdering savage" by the same newspapers. Sadly he died at 21 after defending his title against Arthur Pelkey.

His inquest revealed that his death was due to a previous injury, but Pelkey did not win a fight for some time afterwards. When he heard of McCarty's death it is said Pelkey "cried like a baby."

Couser fights Jonnie White ( 18-0 w/16 ko's) on 28/6. As Cliff has been ko'd in two rounds or less in five of his last 6 fights and looking at Whites ko record ,it is indeed fortunate that the Haumono fight is one month and 2 days later. Cliff will probably have a one month enforced holiday on recent form.

Cliff lost the White fight on points. Welliver beat Oscar Telemaira (3-15 , 1 KO win, 5 KO losses ) on points.

Monte Barrett, who recently swapped KO wins with Cliff, brought the Tye Field myth to an end with a 51 second KO in the first.

It could be a matter of getting people to fight him. A KO loss does nothing for a boxer's future and Solo is KOing 100% up until now.

I believe so. He's probably more at risk of injury during training than some of these match-ups, so go for it more often.

Can't wait tho, to see him fight some quality opposition, I still believe he's got the ability to go far.

You could have almost written the script. Couser kayoed in 2 by Cedric Boswell on July12. The Haumono fight is now off the boxrec schedule.Really ,as much as Haumono has potential his career constantly stalls and splutters.Look at how Kickett and Geale have been brought along and compare Haumono's path. He needs to change management now.

Haumono and his team called off the July 30th fight before Couser fought Boswell. Which is why Couser took that fight.

Fairdinkum Haumonos progress is a tragedy.

If he cant get a decent midclass fighter, look beyond the cousers, connellys and whoever else they currently looking at.
Take a chance, thier would be a couple of prospects that would take a look at his record and think they could beat him.
He's untested, with wins over a bunch of over aged punching bags thus far.
This bullshit, people wont fight him because they are worried about getting ktfo is crap.
Mike Tyson and George Foreman who are without doubt the most Ferocious fighters of all time, they never had problems getting fights.
To the management team of Haumono stop talking shit, you have either got a world beater or not.
Oh by the way he is 33 years young, heaps of petrol left in the tank. Dont die wondering Haumono.

^^ alot of anger there, but also heaps of good points. At 33 he is at a stage that he has enough time, but not too much. It would be good for him to travel, perhaps even to europe. There is good money in Germany and heaps of mid to high level heavies.

hit the nail on the head again toppity!! i believe it all gets back to whether these guys are hungry or focussed enough to chase their goals(if they have any?) go over to the states or europe and slum it and fight for a living rather than wait for 2nd class imports to come over here for nothing. they get things too easy!!
