Is it just me or have most divisions been cleaned out?

Post by Cannibal »

Light Welter was mostly cleaned out by Hatton, Mayweather and Cotto. The only guy left over was beaten by Bradley. Hatton went on to lose, Mayweather is fighting a couple of big money fights before retirement and Cotto will be the only one still going strong.

At Welter, Cotto and Mayweather double teamed Judah. Cotto took Mosley and is targeting Margarito which is he wins pretty much reduces another division.

Light Middle has nothing going on other than a money grabbing Oscar and other guys trading losses.

Super Middle was cleaned out by Calzaghe who is on the verge of retirement.

Light Heavy is a retirement home with 8 of the Boxrec top 10 over the age of 33.

And David Haye cleaned out Crusier and is looking to do the same at heavyweight before retiring early.

It seems like Super Feather is the only red hot division left with all the guys who cleared out the other divisions looking at retirement soon.

Are we about to lose great fighters only to have them replaced by sub standard ones that they beat or would have been beaten by them?

Haye didn't completely clean out Cruiser, and from reading most of your post no one person seems to have cleaned out any division! Besides Calzaghe and Pavlik perhaps?

Good idea though..... :TU:

Super Bantam is still open, Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez are having their own series, but other title holders Steve Molitor, Daniel Ponce de Leon, Celestino Caballero. So who's No1 there is up for grabs.

Same at feather, Chris John, Robert Guerrero, Steven Luevano and Jorge Linares

Super Feather isn't the red hot division, Lightweight or Welter is. Welter has more quality through the top 10 (maybe) but 135 is insane when you consider Pacman, Barrera, Guzman, Morales (hinting at another comeback) and Marquez aren't even in the list at the moment.
