Joe Byrd's record (according to RING mag) after Beilfuss defeat was 13-18-1.

Boxrec has 8-17-1

Can anyone shed light please?

Thanks

Found another 7 bouts for him, we also had a double entry so that should add up. Record is sketchy, no dates for 5 fights.

Out of curiosity, I went to look at this record. I found that the formatting style was all over the place -- particularly with respect to the locations. So I "cleaned" up about a dozen of them. Again, someone put in a comment to the Dean Oswald-Joe Byrd bout that says "Inactive 1966." For someone like me who isn't familiar with this era of boxers, it is confusing. Was Byrd inactive, or was Oswald? Just another tip for all editors: comments must be precise and clear. Remember, if you are entering bouts, what you say in a comment box will reflect in the opponent's record, too. So, this comment needs to be amended to make clear which boxer was inactive in 1966.

Robin - brilliant. Where did you get the remaining bouts????

I may do what you did and go through all (heavyweights in my case) in a (particular)RR book and compare/add/amend records with boxrec. Sounds like a good idea.

"Anonymous" - why don't you have you full name? We can't call you "Anonymous"!!

They were in the '70 RRB. I have just gone through the '66 book and it's amazing how many boxers we have that aren't classified, some with 30 or 40 fights. Thanks to Tomato who was entering Japanese and South American fighters at that time and created a lot of the records. Also helps in clearing up some of those jams we have with names like Billy Smith and Jose Lopez.

Sorry, Robin. I had his bouts in my 1972 book...I thought I had updated MY records through RR book/boxrec. Obviously not.
