Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Saw this article today
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/ ... 987364.ece
It's one of a few which says that Ricky is looking for a rematch with Floyd, one which I ironically think he'd have a decent chance in. But that's besides the point...
What really excited me, as an Irishman, was seeing that the venue being mooted was Croke Park in Dublin on account of it having a bigger potential capacity than anywhere in the UK owing to the larger pitch.
But... I won't believe it 'til I see it. What do you lot reckon?

Floyd got a bit of a toughie in September - I liked the fact that Oscar took on Forbes to tune up but I hope (as an Oscar fan for two things) - 1) Its at 154 (or more) and 2) He doesn't try and sit on his jab and not press (as he did vs Forbes). He's got to fight as he did last time.
I know Oscar is now saying he is out in 2008 (with a fight in December) - but I still think the winner will fight Hatton in May.

The winner of Oscar/Floyd should fight Cotto.
Let Ricky fight the loser of Oscar/Floyd.

Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Personally, I want to see the real fighters like Cotto get his chance at the big fights.
Cotto is more deserving.
He has fought , Judah - SSM -Quintanta next up is Margarito.
All the talk about Hatton Vs Mayweather II and DLH is based purely on Hattona ability to sell tickets and has nothing to do with his chance of winning. Compare this, who is the odd man out?
Hagler - Leonard Hearns - PBF - DLH - Hatton
The winner of PBF vs DLH should fight the winner of Cotto Vs Margarito. Hatton has to beat Lazcano and Maliganagggi to get a fight with PBF or DLH - Cotto has to beat Margarito to get his chance.
Hatton has it easy, doesn't he?

judah has been winning close decisions over guys like corley and pineda.
losing to baldomir.
say what u want about castillo but he never dropped a clanger like that.
mosley had the fluke win over oscar in the 2nd fight and that's his only big win in years.
he's not held a world title in over 3 yrs.
quintana is no better than collazo tbh.
collazo would last longer than 5 rds with cotto as well.
Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Unfortunately he's still not a headliner when it comes to PPV. Margarito will help, but the IBF belt on the line would improve him standing. Shame it isn't.DG. wrote:Personally, I want to see the real fighters like Cotto get his chance at the big fights.

I expect Cotto to fight DLH in December, which may improve his standing. Based upon the Forbes performance (I'm probably in a minority here) Oscar will lose both. He may even get stopped. He looked old and flabby in his last fight. Was too much marking on his face for my liking against a light puncher like Forbes and there's rumours that the scales weren't quite right (he lost 5 pounds very quickly). Think Ian Darke mnentioned this n the commentary.
I love Oscar, he's a God among fighters, but he really doesn't look as he used to even 2 years ago.

Hatton does not deserve a rematch with Mayweather.
He is a b level fighter (wrestler) and how he ever became so popular is a mystery to me!

I am beginning to think PBF would be also, he wiuld have to get his track shoes on in this one.
If Hatton stepped up to fight Cotto, I would have a lot more respect for him, but he won't!

Why is he so popoular? because he portrays himself as a man of the people, not my people!
He is a piss head.

Hatton is NOT a wrestler.
Wrestlers jump OFF the ringpost not head first INTO it.

Not entirely true. I saw WWE and the did that exact move hatton did.banjo wrote:Hatton is NOT a wrestler.

Its called the ' I don't belong at the elite level headbutt' - takes years to master.
You can get odds of 1,000,000 to 1 that hatton does it again tomorrow, worth a £10.00!

Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Oh, I get it now. DG doesn't like Hatton
God this is getting boring.
With Regards to the Mayweather rematch. I imagine it'll happen.... if Hatton beats Lazcano and Mallignaggi, then economically it makes a lot of sense for both fighters. That's what'll make it happen.
I agree, Cotto is more worthy, and thats the fight that fans deserve, and that Cotto deserves.... but, if Cotto keeps winning, then sooner or later it has to happen, and it will. At the moment, Cotto doesn't bring enough money to the table. It's shite that its like that, but thats just the way it is at the very top now. Sad but true.
When the money is right, Cotto - Mayweather will happen.

Mayweather-Hatton 2 at Wembley is pretty much set in stone, Roger Mayweather said its Delahoya and Hatton. The only chance it won't happen is if Delahoya wants Hatton

This is what is wrong with boxing. Keeps winning?the guy is undefeated, every outing, especially at the level Cottos fights at is risky and could result in a loss.
How many times have we said 'its gotta happen'? then they lose and thats the fight gone, forever.

DG is Right,
Cotto deserves a Chance to Fight Mayweather or Hatton. This is Why Boxing is So Dumb.

Delahoya only has 1 fight left after Mayweather and it'll be between Pacquaio, Cotto and Hatton.EddieShredder wrote:Hatton will probably fit both in, if he can.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Mayweather-Hatton 2 at Wembley is pretty much set in stone, Roger Mayweather said its Delahoya and Hatton. I dont think Hatton will fight both because 2 fighters coming off a loss makes it a hard sell
Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Roger Mayweather said on fight hype a few weeks ago they'd only have a remnatch in the States. That said, Floyd would lap up being the "bad guy" over here. He'd be on top form.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Delahoya only has 1 fight left after Mayweather and it'll be between Pacquaio, Cotto and Hatton.EddieShredder wrote:Hatton will probably fit both in, if he can.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Mayweather-Hatton 2 at Wembley is pretty much set in stone, Roger Mayweather said its Delahoya and Hatton. Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
DG - why should Hatton step up to fight Cotto and not the other way round? Cotto passed through 140lbs PDQ when he could have stayed around. Hatton is just as big a draw, if not bigger than Cotto.
And most importantly, why should Hatton, who is average sized at 140 take on a guy that is huge at 147 to prove himself?? Ridiculous.

Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Cotto couldn't get back to 140. His ring weight is around the mid 150s. 147 is more like his natural fighting weight.

Re: Hatton - Mayweather II. How likely is it to happen?
Almost certain, unless Hatton looks piss poor against Lazcano.
At the end of the day, Mayweather sees a nice easy payday against Hatton, in front of a huge crowd. The only fight which will make him more money is against DLH, and that's his next fight.
The only other possible fly in the ointment is if DLH beats Floyd, because I don't see DLH fighting against a man who lost to someone he already beat.
