For all the discussion on Hatton in the past few weeks I've yet to see a thread on his actual fight with Lazcano - so here we go! Maybe the lack of discussion is maybe people see this as a foregone conclusion - Lazcano has not fought since loosing to Harris and maybe on the slide. But I think the fact that Hatton has admitted he was ill in the build-up makes this a bit more interesting. Lazcano proved in his fight with Castillo(who was a beast at lightweight when he could do the weight alright) that he is a tough nut. When Hatton has problems leading upto the fight he usually struggles(Vilches - weight making/motivation, Urango - flu) as he relies on his condition as his style of relentless pressure depends on this. Having said that I think he will want to make a statement after his first lost so I reckon Hatton will wear Lazcano into submission around the tenth. I'd be surprised if it was a blowout like Castillo because I think we all agree Castillo was/is a faded force esp. at 140lbs or below. Thoughts?

It is a really shit fight for one in a football stadium and on PPV. I'm amazed this has sold out like it has.

I didn't buy into all the talk of the naive Manchester public buying into the Ricky Hatton hype but this proves they have.

This shouldn't be a footy stadium fight, the Mayweather or Tszyu fights were for that.

But what do I know, they shifted 55,000 tickets for the bloody thing. Taking the piss making it PPV though, this will be the first Hatton fight I haven't seen for a few years. I'm just not having it.

hatton is in control of the situation, it should not be on PPV and actually should be on terrestrial tv, then hatton would really be repaying the public...

I wouldnt be suprised if Lazcanno is finnished early, he lost to Harris, which isnt that bad BUT he got a gift against Gazinniga or whatever hes called, which doesnt look good. And Lazcanno hasnt fought in over a year and is 34, so stoppage before the 8th sounds on the cards

Yeah I think he looks in really good nick - most fighters look"tight" at the weigh in - but Hatton doesnt look skeletal or anything - if you think that you should see pictures of Cotto when he weighed in at 140lbs or Scott Harrison - now they looked really bad.

Hatton's rib area on the middle picture does have a drained look to It though. The abdomen area Is standing out Insane compared to the rest of his upper body, think he said he's been making light welter since 16 or 17 and he's undoubtedly grown since then.

I have a feeling something is going to go wrong. The gameplan is Hatton and Malignaggi both win their fights and then fight each other. I just get the feeling, dont know why, we will witness an upset that will change every thing.

Only way Hatton loses is on cuts. He's back on home turf with a big home crowd behind him and has something to prove and Lazcano's the perfect foil.

Lazcano hasn't boxed for over a year and a half, remember and he's not a big puncher, even at lightweight.

He should make Hatton look good and of course Maligggnniii looks healthier than Hatton. He's more handsome for a start and has darker skin.

Hatton's made the weight so many times now it's not an issue IMO.

Lazcano's height to make it awkward (bit like Maussa) but Hatton will cut him down in about 7 or 8 rounds at most, no surprise if he gets job done couple of rounds earlier.

Its funny there were Hatton threads everywhere a few weeks ago, and now few want to discuss his fight with Lascano. The Witter issue is dead, Witters fault for looking past the man he was fighting. Now Hatton can say he knew all along Witter wasnt a worthy opponent. If this is just a show for Hatton to prove he still a force at LWW and just a formality why the fvck are 55,000 going, and thousands watching on TV. If Lascano doesnt stand a chance, isnt it Calzage v Manfredo all over again. The school bully against the school mummys boy. Why all the fuss over a confidence builder for Hatton. Why not just fight Malignaggi now and have done with it. Hatton either still has it or he hasnt, simple as. Did Taylor have a warm up after losing to Pavlik and then trying again? OK it was Hattons first loss but it shouldnt have been that much of a surprise that he got beaten by Mayweather. He fought not only the best in the weight above but the best pound for pound fighter in the world. When you are top of your division you should fight the best, after all he wasnt beaten by a LWW was he. Hatton gets too much support from his fans who buy his excuses as well as his fights. I will be watching, I havent bought the fight but my so in law has and he wants me to watch it with him.
