Now Lazcanno is past his best and semi-retired, but he had a hard training camp, he is biggish at 140 himself, and he is an opponent on par with Phillips/Tackie and better than Maussa. He is pretty basic but there are few who could take that sort of punnishment, it looked pretty painful

Everyone knows I'm a big Hatton critic but that was a solid comeback.
Well said PN. I'm certainly not a Hatton 'nut-hugger' (and anyone can check my previous posts if they want proof of that), but I went along last night as I took clients, and I'm genuinely surprised at some of the reactions on here. I thought for a comeback fight he was sharper from the off than I expected and he maintained a great workrate throughout the course of the fight, particularly considering he was loading up on so many shots. He still has a better shot selection and variety of punches than 99% of boxers from these shores and while he led with his face on occasion I think that was in part because he was desperate to secure the stoppage win in front of his home crowd, and also because he didn't respect Lazcano's power. Lazcano himself didn't come to lie down and put in a great effort - no-one would have blamed him if he'd pulled out in the final third and just collected his cheque, but in the 8th and the 10th he gave it a real go.
As for the holding, from where I was watching it was Lazcano who was initiating the majority bar the last couple of rounds and when Lazcano did hurt Ricky in the 8th he came blazing back - if that had been any other British fighter we'd have been raving about that round and Hatton's response.
Of course Ricky shouldn't step in with Floyd again, but along with Haye and Calzaghe he's one of the few who is a genuine world-class talent from these isles so I don't understand the degree of criticism. He deserves to take some regarding past choice of opposition and last night being PPV, but what's on this board goes way beyond that.
On a separate note, couldn't believe how many people started leaving after the 10th round... and invariably from the most expensive seats. Guess that's what happens when you go 'mass market'!

I think Floyd has more power than people think, its the fragile hands that stoppd him punching with power.

Yes, speed and accuracy would do it.

I would love to see Bradley and Hatton fight.

Hatton gets stopped, he cannot take the punches like he once did.

Thats why I easily picked Floyd, Hatton's open to timed counter punching, he bounces around too much and lunges In making It easier for someone who's a natural at timing to read what he does. Just that he's fighting guys who play Into his style.

He should of tried to clean out more at Light Welter after Tszyu rather than do big money fights as he's still got to prove a bit.

The wins over Rowland, Pendleton and Magee should have set up fights with Urkal, Ward and Corley which would have either made him or broke him at that point in his career. They are the sort of fights that you learn something from, you don't learn anything by mowing down blown up lightweights.
It would have been interesting if the Mitchell and Harris fights came off. Mitchell is a mover, which gives Hatton problems but got a gift against Ndou in 2004 so was probably there for the taking. Harris was in his prime at that stage and if you watched him at the time, you'd know he could be a beast of a fight and was a massive puncher and had that atheticism that many Emanual Steward fighters tend to have. Hatton probably would have survived an early onslaught to edge Harris out in a UD but it would have been some fight

Hatton doesnt fight tough fighters...your off your skull
Tackie, Laczano, Urango, Mausa, Tzysu, Oliviera, Mayweather, Collazo.
All tough mofo`s, tell me frucking different and I`ll call you a liar.

All those guys i mentiond are all tougher than Witter. Junior is scared to ingage in a proper fight we saw that against Decent but average punching Bradley, as soon as he lunges in looking for a oneshotKO he ties up quicker than Hattons shoelaces...lame, really lame.

Comparing Hatton getting stopped from an alltime great(in a foriegn country) and Witter getting floored and soundly beaten from and unheard of novice.. They both got beat end of...but if you want to get beat of the no-one..you go girl.

And Witter only fought his mandatory because His light punching hand picked opponent pulled out.

Before both Hatton and Witters most recent outings...who would you of said was the better fighter? Lacano or Bradley????????:??:???>?>?>?>??>?>?>?>@>@>:>?>:>Yeah thought so.
You don't follow boxing, do you?

After Witters and Hatton RECENT OUTINGS who is the better fighter?

Lazcano or Bradley?
Lazcano was never going to win. You twit.

Hattons opponents?

Tackie, Loses all the big ones, no boxing skill at all.
Laczano, Years past his peak, inactive, coming off a loss, career light weight
Urango,limited - no boxing skills
Mausa, No boxing skills AT ALL!
Tzysu, Past his prime - the only real RISK Hatton thought he was taking
Oliviera, Past his prime

Mayweather, BEAT HIS ARSE LIKE A DOG DESPITE BEING A SMALLER FIGHTER.

Collazo.Paper Champ, Hatton did not beat him, SSM showed the difference between a paper chamo and a top fighter.

Witter has more guts than Hatton. Hatton has more money and fame, ut ass a fighter, Hattons a hand picked opponent type of fighter.

On last night s showng, Haton is finished once he fights a top fighter.

PM will beat him and he was crap last night. N'dou will beat Hatton.

Dont follow boxing, you can shut that shite up straight away...I was watching boxing before you had hairs on your plums kid.

You questiond how tough these fighters are...not skill level you jerk.

Kostya was past his prime....but that win alone pisses all over the scabby resume of your boy.

Maussa so unskilled done a right job on, some say ruined Harris, way before Witter fought him..in fact Stevie Johnson had him rocking and rolling at times. and remember Harris ran from Hatton Like witter ran from Pinto. Thats Witters best win. his best fruckin win.

You talk about Collazo being a paper champ..So what was Witter?? did he win his belt against the holder...the recognized best in the division?, nope.

Mayweather beat Oscar Dela Hoya despite being the smaller man. Getting stopped of Mayweather is nothing to get embarrsed about.

Witter has so much more "guts " than Hatton that he fights like a pussy to prove it.
Yeah Hatton is a handpicked opponent type of fighter...just like Witter is a 8x3 type of fighter.

Lazcano has fought at the elite level for years Bradley hasnt fought anyone...like i said, before Witter got beat, who would you say had the Harder fight?.

You say Mallignaggi and Ndou would beat Hatton....Dont follow boxing do you?.

Yea, wasnt as if it was a boring fight, obviously not true boxing enthusiasts, more there for the event. Must have been an amazing atmosphere even if it was just a comeback fight

Hattons speed/combination throwing/workrate are still top class and he dominated emphaticall as he was supposed to against a gatekeeper level fighter (and many can look poor against these level of fighters). I think hes as good as ever in most of what he does. I only watched the free stream but I enjoyed the performance and blood and sand Lazcanno earned his payday and then some the way he took his beating

I'd prefer Hatton to fight fights he can win that are evenly matched like Ngoudjo/Pacquiao/Witter/Juan Diaz/Kotelnik/Torres/Malignaggi (Malignaggi is 1 of the worse 1s. The fights won't happen because of business but if he beat them all he'd go down as a great 140lb champion instead of winning the the Cooper/Bruno runner up prize to the great Yank of the moment

Pound for pound or not, I would rather finish the fight on my feet than on my arse!

Junior got back up and finished the fight.
Hatton did not.

Lazcano is not the fighter he was, even you know that.

Handpicked Vs Mandatory

Hatton does not fight tough fighters.

Even PBF was thought to be a soft puncher.

Thing is hatton is being billed as a great champ etc, one of todays pound4pounders but all his fights against even faded world class opposition have shown him to be basically a fairly ordinary fighter at this level... people seem to forget that he was the first opponent Mayweather koed in a good few years...
and juding by how he struggled last night Hatton should forget all about a rematch with Mayweather.... on that form he would be lucky to see the middle rounds...

Look, im not saying Hatton is Fantastic, im really not.he`s wide open to lead straight rights and left hooks, uppercuts.
Is he entertaining? yes, in my opinion. So for a Witter fan(or Hatton hater) to critisize when he`s arguement is full of holes, well...it pisses me off no end.

Its typical of the majority in this country that wants to pull down the successfull because of thier own resentment and petty jealousness. Strapp a pair of nuts to my front and call me a hugger if you must, but me, i just want to be entertaind.

Well the fact is Lazcano was well beaten by viv Harris who was then koed by Witter!.... Junior may have lost his last fight but that doesnt mean he wouldnt still beat Hatton... after last night I think he would... Hattons style is made for him...

Hatton beat Kostya who inturn KO`d Zab who inturn beat Witter....We could go on the "he beat him so" merry-go-round all day.
Fighting Lazcano after youve just been well beaten and stopped is no walk in the park.Oscar!!! look at who he`s faced after his defeats. The critisizm of Hatton is way overboard, and very Hypocritcal from some quarters

If you can close tha gap(Witters lack of footwork was alarming last time out) quickly and keep him off balance you nullify his ability to generate leverege.
Bradley walked through Witters best all night. If the Hatton from last night was to fight the Witter from the Bradley fight, I`d put my doh, rea, mee on the Fatty from Manchester.

Hatton is one of the worst and most overhyped world level Brits of at least the past 40 years, but i'm not so sure someone as similarly mediocre as witter has anyone who is made for him, once you get past Euro level.

Even a waste of talent like Pat Barrett would have pulverised either of them.
