Who should Hatton fight next?
Who should Hatton fight next?
A Malignaggi fight seems deeply unappealling after Paulie's second poor performance in a row.
Would a fight with the winner of Torres vs Holt or a fight with Bradley be as economically viable as a Malignaggi fight?
Will the winner of Pacquaio vs D. Diaz want to move up to fight Hatton before the end of the year?
What about Campbell, Casamayor, J. Diaz, Katsidis, Witter, Khan, Judah, etc... All seem better fights to me than one against Malignaggi.

Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Its going to be Malignaggi, though id rather see him fight bradley.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
I think Hatton vs Khan would be massive, when it's time. Will be hard to make, however.
Hatton can still fight although he's clearly not the fighter he was. He and Khan are the biggest names in the country. Khan should be at 140, I reckon. However, most likely the rival promoters won't be able to get on with each other with Warren on one side and Hatton making strides as a promoter also.
Hatton will most likely take part in historically insignificant, hardly compelling, but very lucrative bouts. He's a massive name, the only non heavyweight in Britain to command massive crowds AND PPV audiences. Hatton looked very hittable, a bit vulnerable last night, but was able to fight a good pace, put in several sustained attacks, and had moments of real sharpness - all too risky for Khan right now.
If Hatton had an "official" (i.e. big 4 sanctioning body belt) crown, Khan could have maybe worked his way to being mandatory & wait until Ricky's ready for the taking before challenging. But Hatton is in total control of his career - he has that Ring mag title that pretty much allows him to fight whomever he wants - & I think this and other factors will allow him to become a powerful promoter.

Tim Bradley because Bradley came over here and beat Witter, so lets see how Hatton would fare.
Paul Malignaggi because he holds a title, and might have a style to cause Hatton problems.
Junior Witter, just to shut D.G. up
Juan Urango rematch because Juan has improved and it would be a better fight than the first time they fought. Juan is the strongest light welter out there.

1) Bradley ( Hatton would be knocked out)
2) Witter ( 8 years in the making and Hatton still gets knocked out)
3) Cotto ( Hatton gets knocked out)
Hatton 0-3
Honestly, Hatton is so greedy he will fight on for at least 5 more fights. The - when he weights 20st he will come back just to keep in shape.

When will the time be right? Could Khan get into position to be able to fight Hatton in a massive fight before Hatton retires?Autobarn wrote:I think Hatton vs Khan would be massive, when it's time. Will be hard to make, however.
If it makes sense, one would think they would be able to come up with a compromise rather than lose out on a big payday.Autobarn wrote:Hatton can still fight although he's clearly not the fighter he was. Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Hatton needs to fight his bad out of the ring habits most of all... but its probably too late now... he's on the slide now and ripe for the next 'live' (under 35 etc) opponent he faces.....

Please make it be Bradley!!
That would be the beatings of all beatings
Bradley KO 3-7 RH.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
I agree Bradley would take him apart... even Witter would still beat Hatton imo even though he's nolonger what he was.... Bradley could be the next star of the division... thought he was excellent and he's still young and improving....DG. wrote:fatcity69 wrote:Hatton needs to fight his bad out of the ring habits most of all... but its probably too late now... he's on the slide now and ripe for the next 'live' (under 35 etc) opponent he faces.....

Lazcano was under 35 and Hatton beat him quite easily.fatcity69 wrote:Hatton needs to fight his bad out of the ring habits most of all... but its probably too late now... he's on the slide now and ripe for the next 'live' (under 35 etc) opponent he faces.....
You seem to think that because Bradley beat Witter he is some kind of superman. Bradley does not look that special, so talk of him giving Hatton the "beatings of all beatings" is quite absurd.DG. wrote:Please make it be Bradley!!

Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Depends, if 2 rival powers can compromise. Hatton and Warren have that history - and isn't Warren still sueing Ray Hatton? Hatton does PPV on Sky Sports, Warren's shows go out on Setanta. Lot of rivalries around, many obstacles.Horse wrote:When will the time be right? I think Hatton and Khan can still be very big apart from each other. But Hatton is a good alternative for Khan to fighting/avoiding Casamayor/Guzman/Campbell/Pacquiao/Marquez. I mean, lightweight is too heavy duty right now and it's not like Khan makes weight so easily that he can wait for them all to be worn out.
I know that HBO and Showtime, the two super powers in American cable TV boxing, got together for Lewis vs Tyson. So if that could happen, yes, you could be right, more far fetched things than Warren working with Hatton-as-promoter have happened. But it would take a lot of hard work, when both sides can make (relatively) easy money away from each other.
Does Hatton ever have to fight a big name again, if he can draw 56,000?
Khan will definitely have the beating of a Bradley or Malignaggi before too long and there will always be alternatives for him, that he can sell as the star with a following that stretches back to the Olympics (Khan will help sell a lot of Setanta subscriptions if he winds up over there; if he remains at ITV, he's having about 5mil viewers per fight).
Hatton-Khan would be enormous, but there could be too many rival interests.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
if the semie retired luzcano can hit hatton as often as he did then its likely the much younger, sharper, faster and stronger Bradley could do a number on ricky.....Horse wrote:Good God! re all of your points: are you in a state of overexcitement?
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
I'd like Hatton to take on my favourite fighter.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Probably Maligniaggi for me. They've kind of built it up now and it would have a bit of an edge being at MSG and all that. If Hatton managed to stop him it would be good result.
Is it just me or does DG ruin almost every thread now with his anti-Hatton boring drivel?

Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
They have built it up, but I don't think the build up has made it seem like a fight that has to happen. I didn't think it was a big fight when they first started hyping it and with Malignaggi arguably losing his last two fights against average opposition it has completely lost any credibility as far as I am concerned.Goz wrote:Probably Maligniaggi for me. Are the Americans still interested in this fight? And how many Hatton fans will be willing to fly over to America to see Hatton fight Malignaggi now that he has made a clown of himself in front of most of them? I hope the fight no longer makes sense for Ricky to take.
D.G's anti-Hatton agenda is wearing a bit thin, I agree.Goz wrote:Is it just me or does DG ruin almost every thread now with his anti-Hatton boring drivel?

Urango? - No No No!
Lazcano may be under 35, but he is not LIVE!
Styles!
Hatton is increasingly vulnerable as proven by Lazcano on more than 1 occasion.
Hatton walks straight in WITH NO HINT OF HEAD MOVEMENT.
Bradley will match Hatton for strength.
Bradley beats him for speed.
Bradley beats him for power
Bradley beats him for stamina.
Bradley beats him for hunger
Bradley beats him for freshness
Bradley beats him for durability.... although this is based on Hatton being there for the taking
Bradley beats him by KO.
You do not need to be superman to beat Hatton, Collazo proved that.

Start a thread you snivelling monkey.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
I'd love to see him fight Ricardo Mayorga, not for the bout itself but just to see how our "man of the people" handles Ricardos colourful trash talk. Should be fun.

Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Thanks to the forum upgrade, DG has gone for me. Just add him as a foe.
I'd like to see Hatton fight Bradley next, but Malignaggi will do. Hatton's very much on the slide now. He looked poor last night, imo, and should retire very soon (after a couple more fights).

Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
Hatton has one or two fights left in him - He should forget the light welterweights and try and wangle a fight between the winner of Cotto vs Margarito - he won't beat either but he will get a good pension out of it for his troubles. He is coming to the end of the road career wise though.

Hatton would not be able to spend it of he fought Cotto.
Hatton would NEVER take a fight with a fighter with Cottos strength and power - 3 yers ago? maybe, but not now.
Re: Who should Hatton fight next?
The talk about him fighting Cotto needs to be forgotten, Hatton is useless up at welterweight.
he would have stood a decent chance back when Cotto was down at 140lbs but not now,
he is an animal at 147lbs.
Ideally he should fight Mallignaggi, Bradley, and then either Pacman, Casamayor or Campbell,
i think he would win all of those guys.
I would have put Witter on there but after he lost to Bradley i no longer feel there is much point
in the fight until Witter redeems himself, and Bradley isnt on Hattons level in my eyes, although
im sure many of you may choose to disagree, especially DG, but I just dont see anyone
at light welterweight beating Hatton even if he is past it.
As for a fight with Khan, that would be great, could be like a passing of the torch, but i doubt it would happen as
khan aint ready for Hatton, and by the time he is, Ricky will be long past his prime and retired, and lets remember
Khan is campaigning at lightweight, no reason for him to step up with the bigger guys just yet while he has no problem
making the weight.
