Not disputing that Duran was one of the greatest lightweights ever, but it's not like he fought the reigning world champ in his debut - in fact, he didn't fight a guy with a winning record until his 16th pro fight, unless one of those guys listed as 0-0-0 had one, but we don't know about it (this is that stupid 0-0-0 being used instead of "not available" issue again.)

Anyway, I see that Blue added a note about Duran/Mendoza being on 23. February 1968, not 8. March 1967.

Beating Carlos Mendoza - a man who went on to give Wilfredo Gomez one of his hardest ever fights, set the tone for Duran's career to come.

Joe Louis was NOT fighting at 45! If you are going to contradict people Safe, at least try and get your facts correct, you bumbling pillock!

Joe Louis' last fight was against Rocky Marciano, when he got hammered in the 8th round and then promptly retired.

Roberto Duran won his last real title at the age of 38, when he was competing 4 weight divisions past his best weight, beating Iran Barkley in a classic fight.

At the same age Louis was all but washed up.

"Manos: the Hands of Fate" was a classic MST3K episode. It came out in 1966, a couple years before Duran made his pro debut. The parallels are just amazing...

Oh god, this movie hurts. A bland couple and their daughter get lost on their way to a vacation spot and end up spending the night at a creepy, run-down shack owned by "The Master." Handyman Torgo tries to talk them out of it, but the huge, loudmouth jerk of a husband insists despite the protests of his wife. The dog gets killed, Torgo tries to feel up the wife and little Debbie the daughter stumbles across the resting place of The Master, his wives and a very large Doberman.

This is the STUPIDEST movie I've ever seen. The husband (aka The Director of this crap fest) is a complete jerk who spends the entire film griping and barking at his wife and daughter. The wife is a vapid dingbat who, after having been fondled by Torgo, decides to strip down to her underwear in front of the wide open window. And Torgo twitches, mutters, slobbers, leers and stumbles through the whole film, waddling around like a giant toddler with his oversized kneecaps. (Actually, I had heard somewhere that Torgo was supposed to be a satyr, but since he always has his pants on and we never see the trademark goat legs, just what the heck was the point?) The Master looks like Snidley Whiplash and his superpowers seem to consist of staring very hard and laughing maniacally. His name and title also make no sense: Manos means "Hands" so what kind of fear is "Hands, the Hands of Fate" supposed to instill in me?

Cheap, badly lit, horrible repetitive dialogue and wooden performances make this one of the worst movies of all time. Legend has it that three of the actors apparently killed themselves within months of this films release. I can't say for sure if it was the mortification that drove them to it, but it couldn't have helped much.

The moral to the story is: never let a fertilizer salesman make a movie.
