The point is precisely that .... he is a multi millionaire, and he and his family are set for life. So why go on, why not get out while he has his marbles?

Sadly, the Golden Boy suits blow smoke up the rear end saying "nobody draws fans like Ricky Hatton," which is very true. But they don't take the hits. If there are £30 million in the bank, why have £40 million when you profess to being an ordinary guy?

Ricky has been one of our very best, and most exciting fighters. I will never forget that night when he beat Tszyu at the MEN. Raw boxing, adrenaline excitement .. it doesn't get much better.
But I don't want to see him beaten up by Cotto, or Pacquiao or Mayweather. I would bet privately that Billy Graham would be feeling the same emotions.
Golden Boy will always say ... there's more to be had. De La Hoya has been milking his fame for years. But Ricky is not De La Hoya. His style means, at 29, he is already becoming an old fighter. The evidence was there on Saturday. He is becoming easier to hit and hurt.

Ray Hatton spoke last night on radio five as Lazcano being "a world class fighter." Truth is he was a decent lightweight, who got beaten by Castillo. Most of the names on his record were old men (Molina, Leija, Tackie etc). He was hand picked to make Ricky look good. He also had retired after losing to Harris 15 months ago. And yet the eighth round .... can you imagine what any real world class fighter would have done if they had hurt Ricky in that manner?

Having 55,000 chanting your name must be an addictive adulation. Ali could not leave it at the end of his career, and look what it did to him.

I want to see Ricky enjoying the cash he has made, and remember him the way he was against Tszyu. Hopefully he beats Malignagi. But what if he loses. Then there will be the "I don't want to go out a loser" emotion all over again. And so, regrettably, it will go on.

Agreed not that i want hatton to be humiliated but there is no way on earth ricky can beat mayweather. I wouldnt like to see him take more than 3 more fights and fight into his 30's, with the amount of punishment and lifestyle he leads in between fights he is an old fighter already and hes not even 30.

People are looking too much into Paulies' good performance v Cotto. Cotto was dead at 140, in fact I think it was Cottos last fight at 140 because the strain on his body was too much to continue shedding weight. Paulie did not fight a peak condition version of Cotto. Hatton beats Malignaggi IMO and I'm usually biased against Hatton.

Are you DG in disguise? lucky the ref didn't throw him out - thats rediculous. so he held a bit, he still completely outworked Urango even in the "bad" rounds. Only decent, first 4 rounds was the best I have seen him in his career (with the possible exception of the Tackie fight). His movement was brilliant and he made Urango miss widly.

Anyway, he was coughing and spluttering throughout that fight, and wasn't as hard a pace and he didn't take as many shots from Urango. So he showed BETTER fitness this time than he did then (for whatever reason) - no reason to suggest he won't be as fit vs Ndou as he was on Saturday.

I aint seen much of Torres, but again a slow and predicable fighter from what I have seen, as is Randall Bailey. Hatton will have too much variety for them.

Bailey is not a puncher, but I did like what I saw vs Witter and I think he will mature to be a good champion.

Ricky has been hurt in the past, Magee, Urango, Phillips, Jason Rowland, Tackie, Collazo - all hurt Ricky... only class operators that didn't (that badly) were Kostya Tszyu and Castillo. I don't think his chin is any weaker than before - he was only momentarily hurt on Sat... and Lazcano aint bad, he's as good as some of those men who hurt Ricky.

Excellent post from The Blade - my thoughts exactly. Hatton's younger than Lazcano, hits harder and landed more shots, BUT it was Hatton who was the more visibly shaken and within seconds of possibly being KO'd. Lesser talents than Cotto or PBF - such as Bradley or even Urango - could take him out now. Or imagine getting starched by a former flyweight (Pac)..... I wouldn't bet against it. So quit while you're ahead, Ricky.
