Report from Haye's press conference
Report from Haye's press conference
Hot off the press:
http://www.britishboxing.net/news_3489- ... oters.html
Booth was on good form delivering his message to other promoters...and you could just tell who he had in mind, too.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
This has made my week. Decent HW boxing at a UK venue and the acquisition of Rhodes is the cherry on the cake!

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
Boxing has way too much politics for that to be so realistic. Hope he does It though.Autumn 2008 – fight against a top ten ranked heavyweight
Early 2009 – another fight against a top ten ranked opponent
Mid 2009 – fight whoever is regarded as the dominant world heavyweight champion (at this moment, Wladimir Klitschko)
Late 2009 – Haye's first defence of his heavyweight title (“all being well”)

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
Without a certain promoter 90% of the people who now know who David Haye is still wouldn't.
On a side note, Warren has offered Haye £600,000 to fight Skelton, Audley has gone all quiet, but the O2 is now booked for July with one IBF championship fight already scheduled. Sam Peter is at the top of the bill - I have a feeling Danny Williams might get the shot, at least I hope so!

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
If David Haye wants to take the promoting side of it seriously, he should target a few names that could be grabbed from other promoters - I believe Amir Khan's contract is up after the next fight? What about Carl Froch and Junior Witter. The links with Golden Boy should be a big selling point for Haye.
Re: Report from Haye's press conference
Hennessy already has a tie up with GBP.
Good plan though I think its strange that he wants all the events to be at the O2 arena as if I were him I'd think about going out to the USA to build his support.
Exciting but will be difficult to get Klit in the ring off the back of two fights also would like to see more than one fight befor the end of the year.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
Were all these Haye fights going to be in the UK?
Hasim Rahman is the name thats been mentioned alot of late for opponent.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
They said they would all be in the O2 arena yeh, I think thats odd but I guess he is trying to build the british fan base he didn't really have during his cruzerweight carrer, Rahman is a good opponent I think it'll make waves if he beats him.Old bones Ian wrote:Were all these Haye fights going to be in the UK?

Froch/Witter would be a good start, Amir Khan will eventually go his own way so I dobt he will join HayeMaker.
Lets hope the plan works.
Re: Report from Haye's press conference
trouble is now i can see an alliance of major promoters pulling together to block hayes access to the top 10 heavyweights !!!!
Re: Report from Haye's press conference
I think gbp can help remove some of those barriers, who is Hasim Rahman's promoterrhino222 wrote:trouble is now i can see an alliance of major promoters pulling together to block hayes access to the top 10 heavyweights !!!!

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
I'm guessing the Haye fights would be on early morning our time, to accomodate US tv.
Its a brave move by Haye to get into the promotion, and we have to give him the benefit of the doubt until after the first show.
The only thing for me , Does Haye have the monetary clout to compete with Warren and the rest?

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
I assume Setanta will stump up cash to put on big fights and the fact they will have top quality cards means a lot aswell.Old bones Ian wrote:I'm guessing the Haye fights would be on early morning our time, to accomodate US tv.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
I'm guessing GBP will help out with this as well. Might help out stacking the undercard as well. Basically I think it might be similar to what Hatton is doing and calling on the promoters when help is needed.I'm guessing the Haye fights would be on early morning our time, to accomodate US tv.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
This can only be good. Can anyone think of a downside to this? Hopefully we get more interest from abroad in having US fighters come here and take on our boys, B.A.D/Shobox/ITV/SETANTA/SKY cards from the 02, York Hall or even Wembley?
A pipe dream I know, but who knows? I hope Fwank doesnt minge about this too much, people might go off him!!!

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
We've all forgot to ask the pivotal question...what if Haye gets knocked out or worse embarrassed against a top heavy?

Then he'll have to get a little more realistic and not want to retire so early for starters.Gray-Fox wrote:We've all forgot to ask the pivotal question...what if Haye gets knocked out or worse embarrassed against a top heavy?

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
So Golden Boy anted up large for another fraud. Let this loud mouth fight one the young guns, like a Kevin Johnson or Chris Arreola and let's see what he has at Heavyweight.

Re: Report from Haye's press conference
That 600k offer to fight Skelton is paltry compared to what Haye would earn promoting himself against a top 10 Heavyweight at a sold out o2 Arena.
People will eat this up!
It's great to hear, and what makes it extra special is he is a London boy, who wants to do it all infront of his "own"
For the past few years we have had Hatton in Mancester, Calzaghe in Wales...now London get's it's over-due turn, with the most exciting fighter of the lot!

Enzo Macarenelli? Please....remeber Carl Thompson??? what until this glass chinned guy gets whacked by a Heavyweight.Terry D wrote:A fraud with a win over the #1 Cruiserweight in the world and a man who stayed on at the weight to tie-up loose endspunchyrock wrote:So Golden Boy anted up large for another fraud. Re: Report from Haye's press conference
Sigh no not Enzo Macarenelli Jean Marc Mormeck who was the # 1 cruzer over the last 4 years, then he went in against someone who would certainly find out a glass chin in Macarenelli!!punchyrock wrote:Enzo Macarenelli? A Fraud to me is someone who fights for the WBU and pretends to be world champion, he has faught for real title (EBU, WBC liniar/ring title) as well as fighting the main guy out there that people thought could beat him. Who else could he have fought to prove himself at Cruzer?
Haye regularly spars HWs he also took a couple of shots from Bonin, I am looking forward to him testing himself against other boxers because thats what boxing is about, thats what makes it a grate sport that it can turn on a punch or a glass chin!!
Re: Report from Haye's press conference
did he take a couple of shots from bonin.. ?? .. i did not see them and i was there !!
