RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
Does anyone really want to see Hatton take on easy pickings in Malignaggi?
Tim Bradley walloped Junior Witter and got the WBC belt, isn't this fight waaay more attractive?
Two guys who come to fight, plus the Witter tag?

Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
Yeh but WBC have an annoying habbit of having credible manditories and making there champions fight them... not how hatton works at all.
Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
IMO Hatton would have far too much for Bradley
Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
Behave would you? Hatton would obviously drop the title if he didn't want to face the mandatory, just like he has his other titles. The WBC doesn't have any special powers to make their champions fight their mandatories if they would rather give up the belt.josh fg wrote:Yeh but WBC have an annoying habbit of having credible manditories and making there champions fight them... not how hatton works at all.

Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
Not sure because we havent seen enough of Bradley. The Witter fight is hard to judge. But Bradley imo has speed, defense and straight punching over Hatton. Power and strength wise they look at smilar levels. What we don't know is if Bradley can work at Hatton's pace???
I'd prefer this fight personally

Because Hatton wants the easiest route and cash, this fight will not happen.
Hatton would lose.
Bradley is too fast and hungry for Hatton, imo.
Hatton is vulnerable these days.
Hatton way too predictable.

I'd prefer this as a fight for Hatton, much more so than Malignaggi.
And even though Hatton has slid, he has enough to deal with Bradley who is even more one dimensional than Hatton, and he would be bullied around by Hatton too.
Still, it looks like it is going to be Malignaggi.

Hatton does not care what we the boxingfans want.
Hear this, BJ Penn the UFC Lightweight Champion just defended his title.
He asked the Crowd ' do you want me to fight George St Pierre?' ( the current UFC Welterweight Champion) the crowd said 'YES'
BJ Penn said 'GSP it is!'
Also, BJ Penn has fought as high as heavyweoight against th one or two top fighters and won and lost!
Bradley Vs Hatton is a great fight and one that Hatton will not win.
Especially after Saturday nights effort!

I thought you had more sense.
As you say 55k for Lazcano!
Bradley vs Hatton can do the same in Manchester - maybe London or Ireland.
KG, how many people do you think turned up to support Lazcano? 5?

A bout against IBF junior welterweight titleholder Paul Malignaggi has been mentioned as the likely next fight for IBO light welter king Ricky Hatton, however, WBC super lightweight champion Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley (22-0, 11 KOs), who recently dethroned Hatton's countryman and arch rival Junior Witter, says he wants to face Hatton instead. "I truly feel Ricky Hatton and my style of fighting would make for a more fan pleasing fight than he and Paul Malignaggi," stated Bradley. "This is no disrespect to Paul as he is worthy champion but even aside from the styles there is no certainty on when Malignaggi's hand will be completely healed. Ricky Hatton has held the IBO, IBF, and WBA titles at 140.
He has never held the green belt (WBC title). Ricky deservingly is ranked the best fighter at 140 in the pound-for-pound rankings and I'm sure Ricky would want to hold a belt felt by many as 'the' belt. A fight between Hatton and I would be attractive now for a few reasons. Obviously one reason is unification.
The other is that I just fought in England and won my world title against Junior Witter in a major upset in front of a large British and American television audience so I'm fresh in the minds of the boxing public.
There is still doubt by some if I just had a lucky night. Lastly is though I'm no Floyd Mayweather Jr., how better could Hatton gage his readiness for a Mayweather Jr. rematch than against a young unbeaten fighter with very good speed and boxing skills in myself.
A fight between Hatton I could be fought in England or U.S. as Ricky has a huge fan base that will follow him regardless of where he fights. I don't speak for my promoters Gary Shaw or Thompson boxing, I'm just giving my opinion as a fighter that I think the timing is right."

Re: Bradley Wants Hatton
Only People who would Probably Rate Malignaggi are British Fans and Hatton Fans Calling it a HUGE Epic Win if Hatton Fights and Beats him.
Truth is, if Hatton wants to be a "Champ" like he Wants/Claims, he needs to stick at 147.
I mean lets be Realistic.. Malignaggi is hardly a Mayweather / Cotto

Beating Mallignaggi in NYC would be good win, one of the best of Hatton's career against a man who has only lost to Cotto, and didn't get stopped in that.
Don't see why he needs to stick at 147, last time I checked Light-Welter was a weight division.
Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
I would rather see Bradley vs. Hatton and Maliganngi vs. Ngoudjo II and if both Hatton and Paulie win their fights, a unification fight at MSG would be better than sex.
Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
I think he's only fought as high a L Heavy, Dennis, in M1 or K1. I forget. Might be wrong. Not sure.DG. wrote:Also, BJ Penn has fought as high as heavyweoight against th one or two top fighters and won and lost
Anyway, Bradley doesn't sell enough. Malignaggi is generally a bigger name than Timothy. Especially for his demographic. Bradley needs at least another credible opponent on his card. Uruango (if he wasn't already IBF mandatory) would be a good one.
Re: RICKY HATTON v TIM BRADLEY
Too soon for Bradley to be calling out Hatton after one big win. Exactly as I said for Witter, Bradley should go after Torres or Kotelnik, Hatton's claim to be number 1 will be looking shaky if someone starts unifying.
Malignaggi has a bigger following and fits the bill for a MSG headliner which Hatton has long craved.

Instead of Fighting someone who "Lost" to the Man, why not fight the guy who Beat the Man. Or will that Break the British Tradition ?

Malignaggi hasnt fought anyone other than Cotto and he also got a blatant gift against Ngoudjo and the rematch with an old Ndou was close tooGoz wrote:Rubbish.observer1 wrote:Only People who would Probably Rate Malignaggi are British Fans and Hatton Fans Calling it a HUGE Epic Win if Hatton Fights and Beats him.

Bottom line, Malignaggi has no punch and an average defense. Beating him doesn't prove too much but he is a decent enough top10 contender and a bit of mover so its not a terrible fight
Re: Bradley Wants Hatton
Put it this way, I would pick Bradley to beat Malignaggi in a heartbeat. Wouldn't even be close.

Correct, he lost a decision to Machida in K1 Heros.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:I think he's only fought as high a L Heavy, Dennis, in M1 or K1. I forget. Might be wrong. Not sure.DG. wrote:Also, BJ Penn has fought as high as heavyweoight against th one or two top fighters and won and lost

No not at all. Hatton fought Mayweather last year in case you had forgotten.observer1 wrote:Do you Rate Malignaggi?Goz wrote:Rubbish.observer1 wrote:Only People who would Probably Rate Malignaggi are British Fans and Hatton Fans Calling it a HUGE Epic Win if Hatton Fights and Beats him.

Do I rate Malwhathisface? Not particularly but as I said, it would be a 'good' win. He is tricky and has a world title and would be at home. AND Cotto didn't exactly win a landslide against him.
After that I would fully expect Hatton to go on from there and fight either Mayweather again or even Cotto in 2009. So that would be fights against the very best in the sport in 07 and 09. I find it laughable that you have some kind of problem with this.
People are getting too desperate to discredit Hatton at every conceivable point.
Re: Bradley Wants Hatton
Cotto would brutalise Hatton, no way I can see them going down that road.
