Herbie Rides Again

Herbie Hide is continues his comeback on Friday in Spain of all places, against one Ehinomen Ehikhamenor or "Hino" for short. I remember one of Lennox Lewis's former trainers was raving about Hino a few years back but after two losses his career seems to have stalled. I'd like to see Hide vs Macca at some point. But you do worry with Hide's self admitted china chin. You can get 8-1 for Hino - I dont think he'll win but I'm having a go anyway because with Hide all it takes is one shot and he's gone.

This comeback of Herbie Hide matches David Tuas for sheer pace.

Is he ever actually going to fight somebody whos ranked?

Or is he going to take the Akinwande route of beating up a journeymen every few months and padding his pension?

His comeback isn't that similar to Tua. Herbie has at least been very active, is in shape, and still has power (and the chin) to make a fight with him in it entertaining and competative at any level. They have a plan I'm sure, being to challenge for one of the vacant straps when it's vacated, or Arslan's. Regular fights and I/C baubles is tried and tested jockeying for position.

Although Tua's picking things up a bit, I don't think he has the direction or the backing to get a title shot so easily. He was apparently going to be fighting Arreola or Butler or something, although I see the boxrec sked has him down to fight in the Ukraine in July.

He did fight Ruediger May in his come back which is a decent level but stepping it up this contest ain't. The problem with cruzer weight is that it doesn't have the depth of fighters that some other devisions have so the logical step up would be for Frags EU title.

Rudiger May is probably a CAREER best win for Herbie.

May has been a consistent performer at EBU level - Drawn for it and won the EU title. Of his 6 defeats, 3 have been against former world champions, 1 against a EBU champion. Aside from the Morrison win, Bentt had not proven himself even to British title level - most of his opponents were guys with more defeats/draws than wins and even those with more wins - they had either lost about 10 times, or actually beat Bentt.

Tucker was finished, a case to could be made that May was - but Tucker was losing to guys that he would never have lost to near him prime.

Bentt was an American heavyweight (though English born yes) so wouldn't need to 'prove himself domestic level'- and blowing out world class Tommy Morrison in 1 gives him a very, very credible result that pi#ses on any results Oyebola, Hide, Mitchell, Murray, Welch et al could claim. Morrison's left hook would of marmalised the British shower of sh'te.

I know we're splitting hairs anyway, but Tucker and Bentt are way better results/names than May!
