DKP snags Campbell-Casamayor!
Don King Promotions won the right to promote a bout between WBO/IBF/WBA lightweight champion Nate Campbell against WBO interim titleholder Joel Casamayor at a purse bid held today at WBO headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico. DKP's bid of $1,220,000 outdistanced the $571,000 bid of Golden Boy Promotions. The tentative date is August 27 with proposed sites in Florida, England, or Las Vegas. The purse split will be 50/50. Contracts must be signed no later than June 3. If Campbell doesn't sign, he would be stripped and Casamayor would immediately be stripped. If Casamayor fails to sign, Campbell would be left without commitment to face Casamayor.

Will this end up on the undercard to Sam Peter Vs ????? if it in the UK?

Perhaps too soon for the Peter bill.
However I could see it being a seperate bill with Amir Khan on the undercard, for a potential match up against the winner?

Will GBP even put Casamayor into this fight? Casa could still end up fighting Juan Diaz on a Golden Boy show but admittedly, Nate Campbell is making things embarrassing for them. I hope Golden Boy go along with this fight. Ring mag will no doubt be calling for them not to.

It looks like Casa isn't going to sign for the Campbell fight - cue GBP in house job and split titles.

Casa wants a big payday, $300k against Campbell does not represent a payday (hes the challenger so will get 30% won't he?)

Campbell conceded 50-50 to try and make the fight happen.

Theres an outside shot it'll happen then Auto, Casa-Diaz or Casa-Barrera would be the favourates as Golden Boy could probably top the $600k for either of those. Its all about who offers Casa the most. He needs a payday as hes near the end

Ofcourse the winner has an excellent shot of facing Pacquaio which is the jackpot

I like Campbell... he genuinly seems to want to fight the best, and like has already been said - he's making it hard for Casa to back out of this one.

That said, Casa will fight Diaz in an all GBP fight, no doubt. Poor

As has been said , Casa is looking for a bigger payday than $600,000. fair enough really , he hasn't got long left in the game, and he's not got to prove much more.
If i was him, i'd go where the money is.

As a fan i want to see him fight Campbell, see who is the No1 lightweight

Apparently Casa just told Boxingtalk that he's not fighting Campbell, that he's instead going for Diaz in September.

It's not the end of the world - Nate has Guzman, Anthony Peterson and Khan as his top contenders. If Nate wants to make the most of his title, fight a tune up before going for 1 of those 3 mentioned above.

I'd like to see Campbell-Guzman. Very interesting fight. Guzman's not had great power since he was at 122 and Nate can really bang.
