Malignaggi hasnt fought anyone other than Cotto and he also got a blatant gift against Ngoudjo and the rematch with an old Ndou was close too

True, about 4 or 5 rounds I think before Cotto puts him away in brutal fashion. It would be career suicide for Hatton to go down that road.

He isn't unbeatable.

If Hatton whipped himself into the shape he was in for Tszyu I think he would go longer than 4/5 rounds. Cotto is ok coming forward unloading on his opponent, I fancy Hatton would meet him head on. A lot. And keep up a very high workrate. And all the mauling that would go with such a scenario.

Cotto a favourite but Hatton a very live underdog imo....

I think the biggest factor in Cotto's favour is that it would be at Welter now and he is looking quite big there.

Cotto is an absolute monster at the weight. If both Collazo and Mayweather's power troubled Hatton he'd have a nightmare with Cotto. If Hatton could move his head like he did in the first few rounds against Lazcano, and closed his guard to prevent the left hook, he'd have a chance. But I'm sad to say it's a slim one.

Cotto's only weakness is his chin, and Mosley couldn't shake him like Judah did.

Cotto's getting horribly overrated, hes very good but he isn't the monster KO artist ATG everyones hyping him to be now there isn't any other credidible opponent to beat Mayweather. Cottos power is good but it isn't anything beyond what Hatton has eaten before, Mayweather may hit harder than Cotto. Cotto likes to work at his own pace, Hatton has more intensity.

In 2005 Cotto was a weight drained 140 with a vulnerable chin, so Ricky would probably beat him. In 2008 he is a monster puncher and is progressing into a tidy little boxer at a more natural weight. Against Mosley he out boxed the boxer, just. Considering Miguel's in-ring weight is around 154 (his walking weight is allegedly somewhere around 162-165), that's a huge amount of punishment to withstand. Especially with Miguel's punch output.

It has been my persistant belief that had the Hatton who dethroned Tszyu met with Cotto at 140, he would have stopped him or won a clear UD.

Now the pendulum has swung. Cotto is obviously a natural welterweight and without having to eat into his reserves of lean mass, is a much stronger, sharper and resiliant animal. I agree that Hatton wouldn't be as helpless as some are suggesting and it is also the sort of contest he would be 'up for' as next to FM, Cotto is the biggest scalp by far in the welterweight division. BUT is Hatton durable enough these days to endure the assault that he would have to face before wearing Cotto down?

Hatton may fall short of being an elite fighter but he is and always has been too good and hardy for Cotto to make a fool of him.

Hatton moved up got koed and said himself he was'nt strong at that weight so he has moved back down. so why does he have to move up again . Zoo never moved up he was content to be the jnr welter king can't see why Hatton should move up again unless its to generate more money than he can make at the lighter weight, and seing has how he could fight Bambi and make shitloads he don't have to do it . Let Cotto go back down in weight not Hatton go up.
