Danny Williams and Herbie Hide Spoliers.

Post by DG. »

Mike Tyson-conqueror and former world title challenger Danny Williams (39-6, 31 KOs) scored a seventh round stoppage of previously unbeaten Konstantin Airich (9-1-1, 8 KOs) on Friday night at the Pabellón deportivo Asesarre-Barakaldo in Bilbao, Spain. Williams was deducted two points in round two for low blows in round two. Airich was credited with two knockdowns in round three as he battered Williams backward into the ropes. Williams was down again in the fourth. Williams was deducted another point in the fifth for hitting on the break, but then dropped Airich at the end of the round. Williams dropped Airich again in the sixth and was on the attack when the bell rang after about 90 seconds saving Airich. It was only a matter of time, however, and the bout was stopped in the seventh.

WBC International cruiserweight champion Herbie Hide (43-4, 41 KOs) won a twelve round unanimous decision over Ehinomen Ehikhamenor (12-2, 7 KOs). The former WBO heavyweight champion put Ehikhamenor on the deck at the end of round four and controlled the action en route to a 117-110, 118-109, 118-109 win.

I would never normally quote Eastside, but I found this via a football forum I visit:
I've just watched Danny Williams vs Konstantin Airch live from Bilbao in Spain and i'm in shock. This was the most shocking referreeing ever. Worse than Robin Reid vs Sven Ottke.

In round two Danny got 2 points deducted for only his 2nd low blow warning.

In round 3 Danny got 2 standing 8 counts even though it was't in the rules. Danny's tape also came loose and he had to cut it himeself after the ref let him fight for over a minute with it.

In round 4 Danny got a count after a slip (he threw a right and slipped).

In round 5 Airich went down and the ref gave him 10 seconds PLUS an extra 10 to recover.

In round 6, Danny had Airich is huge trouble after 1 minute but the bell rang after 1:25 of the round! Unreal!

In round 7 Danny was all over Airich and the towel was thrown in....justice down.

I'm still in shock over this. I know this fight isn't on the radar of US fans but please look this up for it's injustice. I've never seen anything like it.

Danny was 8 rounds down going into the 5th! And he was battering Airich round the place! Airich is good, dont get me wrong but he was in too deep tonight and it would have been over by 3/4 if the ref was correct.

Crazy fight that makes me sad as a boxing fan.
Sounds 'interesting', lets put it this way... Surely this can't have actually happened? I take full blame for quoting ESB if it's true.

Thats only the second time in his carrer Hide has been 12 rounds right?

That williams fight was really bad shouldn't have been a No Contest I remember being unimpressed.

Williams fight sounds a bit mad, say what you want about Danny but he's usually entertaining

And that was the first time Herbie Hide has been 12 rounds, his last points win was over 10 rounds in 1993.

guys check out the thread on current scene. IT WAS A 1:20 ROUND TO SAVE AIRICH. this is disgusting... the second half of the fight is on youtube WATCH FOR YOURSELVES.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCVxmcCs4zQ

if anyone can speak german i would really appreciate a rough idea of what the commentator is saying throughout, thanks.

lol the referee didn't even make it clear the fight was over, he just waved a little and turned away from williams, as if saying "ok, you got what you wanted. happy now? now get out!"

Also, very interested to know what Oenoer is gesturing about at 5 mins in.

I would imagine secondsout.com removed it.

They are still charging people to watch it, can't blame them.

I saw the fight, I have no idea why these daft pomoters serve up their prosepects to DW, DW is not at that stage...yet!

I think he can act like he's at that point but is too inconsistent to be a consistent journyman... Remember Williams vs Platov was a similar story.

Exactly. I also think he knows the more crap he looks the more likely some basic padded record fighter will try to step up off his name...and pay him well for it!

1.20 round :o

Well done to DW for getting through it.

We've all seen crooked refs/poor decisions but this really is bad.

From the bit I saw, the German commentator seemed unbiased and was doing strictly blow-by-blow commentary in a very methodical, Teutonic manner. He did seem completely nonplussed by the premature ending to that round and, just prior to that, had said he didn't think Airich was going to be able to continue after the knockdown.

According to the data boxrec has, this was the referees first fight.

Sounds like an absolute shocker. You'd want the rule book thrown at this crock of shit, only our international bodies sell crocks of shit for a living, so it's not in their interest to do anything.
I'd like it to be Williams in their against Peter if it is to be a Brit. Although his fragilities and stomach are plain for all to see, I think he has more potential at this stage than Odd or Skeleton.

As for Hide, 12 rounds is probably a good thing in the long run. In fact, he's never been 12 rounds before :o

Danny closed the show well, chasing down the German when he had him in trouble, but he was rocked twcie in the third (although both standing 8 counts were premature) and was struggling to get going in the first.

The refs 2 point deduction without a warning for unintentional low blows, second deduction when Danny continued to box after the ref had called stop (for no apparent reason), the ridiculously short 6th round (when the local was near to getting KOed), the counting of a slip in the 5th as a kockdown and the constant flow of warnings to the Brit make me want to see a BBBC-led investiagtion to Danny's treatment last night.

It was nothing short of corrupt and goes against all the prinicpals of 'sport'.

Only adding to what has already been said....

1)It was the promoter who rang the bell after only 1m15 of the 6th round (ahmet Oner). Absolutely outrageous. The german board and the spanish board should ban him.

2)Herbie Hide the pudendum was cheering as Danny was getting some stick early on.... obviously still upset that Danny knocked his steroid ass out in the gym

3)Whilst Danny should his usual enormous balls it was disturbing to see him getting knocked around relatively easy early on.

4) Oner now claiming Airich broke his hand in the 3rd round.....
