Jones and Rhodes clash for the vacant Commonwealth title

Michael Jones will get a shot at his old Commonwealth light-middleweight title as long as he comes through a warm-up in Huddersfield this weekend.
The 29-year-old Liverpool man faces Welshman Jason Williams over eight rounds on the undercard of Jason Booth's IBO title defence against Dale Robinson on Saturday. And should Jones come through unscathed, he will box Leeds' Darren Rhodes for the Commonwealth belt in Manchester on April 10.
Jones revealed: "Richard Williams will be relinquishing the Commonwealth belt to fight for the IBO world title (against Sergio Martinez).
"I've been promised the opportunity to contest the title on the Michael Brodie bill next month, as long as I come through this."
Jones helped Anthony Farnell prepare for his shock win over Lawrence Murphy last weekend.

The Brodie-Chi undercard is shaping up nicely. Jones-Rhodes and also the rescheduled Jason Cook-Kevin Bennett.

I'm hoping the card isn't going to be a disaster coming just a week after Hatton's in the same place.

Oh, right. Cook-Bennett is on there. Should be a great night of boxing.

its also a half hall so the atmosphere wont suffer and you will closer to the action than for Hattons, it was a toss of a coin which one I booked.

Oh right, J, nice info. bennie - have a look at the BBN site for a tiny bit on Benno. He told me it was on for April 10th.

It's kind of frustrating that Hatton-Pinto for the joke WBO interim title will draw a full house at the MEN Arena - when the WBC rematch between Brodie and Chi - the fight of the year for 2003 - draws only half that a week later.
Don't get me wrong, they're both good fights. But Brodie-Chi is the fight that should really sell in a sensible world.

True, although Mitchel vs Stewart on the undercard is a good fight.

Brodie vs Chi card looks very good. Rhodes vs Jones is a very close fight to call, probably just giving the edge to Jones (because I think he breathing difficulties severly affected him vs Moore). However, Rhodes must be brimming with confidence.

Good title and a good 50:50 match up worthy of the championship.
