Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Why single out Rhodes ?
I have asked you to explain the inclusion / exclusion of the following :
Eastman
Pickering
McCullough
Simpson
Edwards
Harrison
Pryce
Lockett ( ok a mickey take)
oh and Rhodes.
You justify kicking out Pryce cos he aint fought for 6 months, and YOU dont rate his last opponent, then have the audacity to include Scott Harrison, and McCullough.
I give up.

You have to get the balance right.Horse wrote:When I first started this list 25 months ago, neither Harrison or McCullough were particularly out of place with their rankings.DavidPayne wrote:As I've said since you started, Wayne McCullough, Scot Harrison have been inactive for 3 and 2 years, I cannot comprehend how they could be ranked.
Wayne McCullough is scheduled to fight this month, if he fights and if he wins then his place in the list will be largely justified.
Scott Harrison, in my defence, moved down two places this month and is out of the top 10 for the first time since the top 30's inception. Harrison is out of the ring because of legal problems, not because he does not wish to continue, so I do not wish to stop counting him as a modern/active boxer because of that.
Harrison and McCullough should have both dropped a lot sooner as a result of their gross inactivity but I, as I have not been doing this list that long, have in the past miscalculated how much to reward wins and punish losses and as a result inactive fighters have not moved down quickly enough. Hopefully, in the future I will get the balance right.
Neither Scott Harison or Wane Mc appear in ANY official British boxing list.
They are dropped after approx 12 months inactivity.
They have no business in this list.

Thanks.twenty six wrote:You are a pedantic shite, I'll give you that.
I don't know, but it was made clear he did not intend to continue when he became obese and did not fight for over 6 years.twenty six wrote:So go on, when did Hamed officially anounce his retirement ?
I can see why you would want those changes, except for moving Rhodes into top 15. Rhodes has not yet come close to showing he is on that level. Facey destroyed Woolcombe, so I don't think Rhodes doing likewise proves he is one of the best British fighters out there.banjo wrote:I'd have Mitchell, Rhodes and Napa in the top 15 in place of Cook, Rees and Scott Harrison (who I think is finished for good now).

Maybe he is movng up the weights.
If Harrison with no license is on the list, Twenty Six on it!

Some things in life i'll never understand. Such as why are we here? Is there a God? Does life exist on other planets? And why so many people reply to Horse's monthly P4P list
Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Yes, it is ridiculous. But, at least the other focus of ridicule(Wayne McCullough) is fighting this month.EddieShredder wrote:Fair enough for taking the time to do the rankings and generating discussion![]()
However, keeping Scott Harrison in your rankings is just rediculous and has no justification whatsoever.... I, along with almost everyone else, just cannot understand it. Nonsensical at best.
The fact that Harrison says he wishes to continue and my opinion that if he did come back he could still be a force are my justifications for him still being in the rankings. Yes, he is too high in the rankings but I don't think it is crazy to include him as he could make a comeback and there is still a good chance he is better than a lot of these fighters P4P.
Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
I explained the exclusion of Pickering, Simpson, Edwards and Pryce in an earlier post. I also gave the reason for Harrison, McCullough and Eastman still being on the list as being that they have achieved a lot in the past and that they are still benefiting from it now, even though recently they have not been impressive.twenty six wrote:Why single out Rhodes ?

Harrison and McCullough can afford to be more inactive than Pryce as they have proven a heck of a lot more than Pryce.twenty six wrote:You justify kicking out Pryce cos he aint fought for 6 months, and YOU dont rate his last opponent, then have the audacity to include Scott Harrison, and McCullough.

I don't have anything against Rhodes, like I have said, I think he is only one British title defence away from entering the list. He was impressive against Woolcombe, but I want to see more evidence of his class before I enter him into the list.

Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
The list is literally HORSEshit if it has Harrison and Wayne Mc on it.
Just push everyone up 2 places if you agree with the rest.
So what if they have proved stuff in the past, its the past!
Horseshit or just shit from Horse?

Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
They both appear in this list, is this not an official boxing list? Wayne is fighting this month so there is no need to take him out now. Harrison will fall with time.DG. wrote:You have to get the balance right.

Is Twenty Six Ryan Rhodes? Even if I took Harrison and McCullough out tomorrow, Rhodes would not be one of the two fighters I would promote to the top 30.DG. wrote:Maybe he is movng up the weights.Horse wrote:I don't know, but it was made clear he did not intend to continue when he became obese and did not fight for over 6 years.twenty six wrote:So go on, when did Hamed officially anounce his retirement ?

You are the only person in the whole world that has Scott Harrison ( an unlicensed fighter I might add) rated!!
WM should appear on the list AFTER he has fought and that assuming he has a decent win.
SH and WM takes away from the rest of your work, imo.

You have to take Harrison and McCullough out and then you have a sound list.

Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Scott won't be so high on my list for long. Now he is out of the top 10 he is a lot easier to move down the list. I know people want him out of the list completely, but I think his high position makes it seem a lot worse.DG. wrote:You are the only person in the whole world that has Scott Harrison ( an unlicensed fighter I might add) rated!!

Hatton is not REAL P4P stuff. Not now, if ever!
Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Harrison will not fight again this year, so if assuming his license is reinstated next year it would be over 3 years since his last bout. Harrison is unlicensed and shouldn't be on that list. I like your top 10 though.Horse wrote:Yes, it is ridiculous. Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Bah, I also think Junior Witter's waaaaay too high now - he was struggling to be number 4 before the Bradley (but I accepted it) fight for me.
Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Hatton has got to be somewhere on the world P4P list; perhaps not the in top 10, but if you don't have him at the very least in the top 30 then that is not a very realistic list at all.DG. wrote:I mean the P4P List that PBF tops.

When I take a fighter out I intend to do it for good. Harrison wishes to continue and has tried to get his licence back, Harrison is clearly trying to continue his career and has so far not made any statement regarding him giving up, so for me like in the McCullough situation he is an "active" fighter.banjo wrote:Harrison will not fight again this year, so if assuming his license is reinstated next year it would be over 3 years since his last bout. Thank you, I am happy with the top 10 now that Harrison has left it, and hopefully I can expand that to the rest of the list.banjo wrote:I like your top 10 though.
Re: British Top 30 P4P June 2008
Yes, the list would look better without those two in it, but when and if they fight again they will likely still be two of the best 30 boxers in Britain.Dioufy wrote:You have to take Harrison and McCullough out and then you have a sound list.
He has proven more and is ranked higher in his weight division than anyone below him(with the possible exception of Woods). I considered dropping him below Woods, but I thought it was best to leave it as Witter seemed more positive than Woods about continuing with his career.Dioufy wrote:Bah, I also think Junior Witter's waaaaay too high now - he was struggling to be number 4 before the Bradley (but I accepted it) fight for me.
