SKELTON OUT OF THE SAM FIGHT?

Post by GlobalBox »

Been told Matt is out of the fight against Sam for the Euro title, can't say I am surprised after what happened to Danny on the same promoters bill a couple of weeks ago.

Shame when it comes to this, although don't know what the official reasoning is, you have to assume it has played some part.

Its different when you think you might get shafted on the cards, but if you think you are going to get shafted in the ring as well, there is little point in Skelton taking the fight really.

I dont think there would be anything dodgy like that going on for a European title fight as there would have to be an approved referee and also a supervisor present etc.

Samm lost to Oliver McCall in Turkey a little while ago so he can be beaten.

I can see what you are saying but they were all approved referees/judges in Ottke/Reid and various other German interesting decisions. Although to be fair its happening everywhere we are a bit better than most but not by much too be honest.

Its a shame this game of ours is like this really and it shows no sign of being cleaned up at all, although thats for another thread.

Good point about Sam losing to McCall, had not forgot that but probably chose to ignore it.

Vidoz is in for Skelton apparently, that could be an interesting little match, not easy to pick a winner really, neutral ground would probably favour Vidoz but home advantage has to be worth a couple of rounds for Sam minimum I reckon.

Think that is off Chambers apparently Audley is fighting Rogan now, it looks like being Maccarinelli's comback fight, although who knows these days perhaps it has been resurrected and that is why Matt is out.

Bloody hell Oddly/Rogan. Strange one. I don't know what to make of it. Pomegranate of the boxing world is that match-up.

I presumed SSS/Skelton was off, or at least not signed sealed and delivered, owing to the fact Frank-face was talking about Skelton being a possible for Peter in July. I can't see why Skelton would be pulled out of the SSS fight without something better in the pipeline. At his age, and with his 0 gone, there's not too much to lose, and if Rabbit-hole gets hold of the European title, it could add a few possibilities.

There were mermers of Rogan quite a while ago but still nothing official has been released, there doesnt even seem to be a date in mind. Or do you know something we dont?

How do you think Williams would do against Sam now?

The same I think. When he gets wobbled he normally is in big trouble, one thing I dont think that has been mentioned here is what if the ref for the Airich fight hadnt given hims tanding counts? He was really wobbled and Airich was going in for the kill but the ref gave him a standing 8 count which had he not done Williams may have taken a big shot that put him on the deck for the full count.

Yeah, if Sam hurt him before - he'll hurt him again. Sam has a good chin if nothing else - and Williams isn't elusive, very easy to hit.... thats why I don't say a McDermott upset is out of the equation.

Sam struggles with faster movers, not fatter stationary targets.

Sam would win a shoot out.

I cant comment on McDermott because the only time Iv seen him was live against Skelton and watching from ringside it seemed to me like he was just getting whacked on the back of the head and pulled down and the ref stopped it the third time he got pulled over. He got beat in the first but for me it wasn't like he got knocked clean out in one round, he was actually still capable of fighting on I thought.

I dont know whether he hits hard tho, and if he doesn't then Im not sure that he will beat Williams.

I'm sort of sick of asking this but does it really take audley anywhere? Cos if he's out to be Rogan's opponent I don't know why he doesn't take the BBC money and run with some dignaty.

Cheers.

Josh I think Frank allegedly wants to have him on a few undercards and then (if he wins) have him take on Williams and Skelton at the end of the year.

Yeh I suppose but fighting glorified british eliminators seem to me to be a bit of a waist of his time... Ideally I'd like to see him chasing the european title at least

For sure if Id been in charge of him Id look at a fight with Dennis Bakhtovfor his next fight, the guy doesn't hit hard, is pretty small but has a decent enough ranking with the WBC.

On the other hand tho, Audley (in my opinion) looked a bit on the fat side in his last fight. The Williams fight is on the cards if both come throgh their next fights tho, and Williams will be well thought of in terms of Europe given his recent form.

Why is fighting British eliminators a waste of his time? It's not like he's won a British title yet or anything!

ok

firstly ...

Aforce v Rogan is good

Martin needs to let rip... we know the left hook is the danger weapon... dont get drawn into the holding tactics...cant remember how tall Rogan is but hes def stronger than Audley....

theres nothing wrong with Audley fighting on.

as for Mcdermot ....hes bad, people. warren has had him for a while now...i dont know why?

Mcdermot was sparked by the plodding cruier Nicolay popov (a propsoed aforce opp) knocked down and was so ungainly and heavy i think he broke his ankle.

Mcd was counterpunched to a points loss by mark krence (this was a great win for Mark who was not fazed by johns supposed power!!!

As for Danny Williams v Sam.... both are past their best....Williams is more chinny but he retains dynamite in every punch...Samil sam however has not recorded a significant KO for a number of years and has got slower..plodding his way to points defeats against the frindge world classes...hes still a tank who comes forward and mauls (which is why the Skelton fight would have been a complete disaster)

why dont matchmakers try to avoid stinkers ????

i mentioned in a previous post about Danny williams and matt skelton having 2 absolute wars with Bob Mirovitz ! THIS IS WHAT WE WANT :box:

I've just checked Rogan's record again, after he said in the bove article that he is a big guy, and I didn't realise that he's 6' 3". I thought he was smaller. I don't remember him looking much bigger than David Dolan (6 foot tall).

Rogan seems like a great guy, but I don't see him being more powerful than Harrison. Added to that, I don't see anything other than a Harrison win. I hope I'm wrong though; I want Rogan to win.
