Michael Katsidis Vs Juan Diaz Sept. 6.

Post by ryan711 »

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer unveiled exclusively to ESPN.com

Former lightweight titleholder Juan Diaz will face Australia's Michael Katsidis in a battle of brawlers on HBO's "Boxing After Dark" at the Toyota Center in Diaz's hometown of Houston on Sept. 6.

With both coming off losses, it's something of a must-win fight for each. Diaz lost his belts to Nate Campbell on March 8. Katsidis was stopped in the 10th round in a challenge to Ring magazine champion Joel Casamayor on March 22.

A smart Katsidis will win the fight its goin be a good war.

going to be a great fight. Neither of them are worried about another loss, otherwise they wouldn't take the fight. That's what we all like to see I reckon.

It will be big, but just imagined if this had happened before there respective first losses. :o

I agree, the one thing the UFC has going for it that boxing doesn't is the fact that you can have a 24-8 record and still be a great fighter. Boxing needs to lose it's fear of having losses on the record, it's killing the sport.

It is pretty ridiculous. Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Ali, nearly every heavyweight champion except Marciano lost fights during their careers without people running them down. Now one loss and people want to write a fighter off. Most of these "critics" have no idea how much it takes to prepare for a fight, let alone win one.

If Kat' has learnt from his last fight (one he was winning) he should be more that a good test for baby bull. Casa' has more class than JD. Santa Cruz was apparently just ring rust.

A close SD a cleanup? Being KO'd is a cleanup. Like I said, should be an all action fight, but my money will be on Diaz. Don't forget the cut that played a role in the Diaz/Campbell fight.

^^ Cleaned up was right. One of the judges got it wrong, the others on the money.

Peden KOed Campbell both times. What is your point?

You said Diaz got cleaned up by Campbell. Not so. I didn't say anything about Peden/Campbell.

I think Katsidis by KO. Diaz stands and trades and that will be his downfall, Casamayor was on the backfoot all night and really Katsidis made the mistake in the 10th that cost him the fight. If he wasnt so reckless in that round he would have won on points.

nah diaz doesnt have a good ko record. i see diaz getting a close decision cuz its in his hometown. katsidis would have won the casamayor fight but he went into the tenth round punching like a fuckin lunatic. its gonna be epic though. u got 2 dudes that can only fight on the inside and bang. hopefully the loser comes back cuz both these guys are studs
