always struck me as perculiar in boxing that the 'home' promoter always pays the officials, could you imagine a home team at football or any other sport paying the officials?
is this why we get what appear to be corrupt officials occasionally in our sport?
is this why we get premature stoppages too?
surely a % of gate receipts should be held by the BBB of c to pay officials and there allowances/expenses etc, this would enable a closer eye on financial goings on and also would seemingly decrease calls of potential 'foul play' worldwide !!
who pays who??
Re: who pays who??
Also the promoter can say that he doesn't want certain officials to officiate, so they quickly find out which side their bread is buttered on.

Mmmm doesnt the promoter also pay the opposition fighters? in truth your statement doesn't make sense.I spoke to a fellow at the BBB of C and apparently they appoint the officials for major title fights while the area councils appoint officials for the rest. The promoter has no say although a fighter and his team can object to the referee and have him changed with good reason.
Now I am not saying that certain referees dont do whats best for British Boxing eg Hatton/Vann.And that the WBU more or less made sure the decision went the right way with Hatton.
Reg Thompson and Karl Rogers judged almost all of Hattons fights while Vann refereed most of them too.Talk about having the bases loaded.
