Who would win between Froch an Pavlic

Post by josh fg »

As Calzaghe seems intent on bowing out by fighting an old man I was wondering who people think would win between britains other super middleweight and Pavlic should they meet?

Agreed. It wouldn't take long for that right hand to find a home and let's be honest Pavlik has operated at a much higher level than Froch. Froch hasn't even proven that he's world class. A lot of people in Britain believe he is, but there is nothing on his record to show he is. His opposition hasn't been very good and his career has moved along at a snails pace.

I think Pavlik would win but Froch is a bit of an unknown entity (to me, at least) still.

Its hard to see, Froch has yet to prove he is world class, although he does look it at times, he hasnt beat anyone
who could help us answer the questions needed.

Pavlik is a proven world class operator who at this point id give the edge to.

Froch is wide open to getting clubbed around by an accurate puncher like Pavlik.

I like Froch but he carries his hands too low, you've got to think that Pavlik would find his chin too often.

Pavlik can be put down heavy and Froch carries more power than most.

I think Froch's weird style will give someone like Pavlik a lot of trouble.

I know Carl would fight Pavlik in a heartbeat if that opportunity came up.

Wouldnt matter, froch would take the natural middleweights hardest shot IMO.

He took Magees hardest and still stood there. And according to Jimenez who fought both Calzaghe and Magee straight after each other, Magee Punches harder than the great JC.

Whats on the cards for Froch at the moment?

I think there is too much made of the hands down style it has advantages as well as dissadvantages as it draws opponents in and means that its difficult to keep both hands in there feild of vision.

this is the sort of fight I would love to see but can never see happening.

Froch looks to have a solid chin, but can he take those pavlik bombs? And does Froch hit harder than Taylor? I don't think he does...

With the exception of Woodhall and Mitchell JC has always beaten his most difficult opponents on points, he's never been a top level knockout puncher and regardless of the extra 8 pounds Brian Magee is no Pavlik.

But it would be a very interesting matchup. Froch needs to pick up a belt before there is any remote chance of that happening.

I aint yet to be thoroughly convinced, but I think Pavlik style wise is bad for Froch. Too quick.

Taylor is not a hard puncher. He has fought so many light middles it made him look like a good puncher.

I could see this fight being a punchfest :o with Froch winning. Froch will love Pavlik coming forward right at him to land that big right uppercut.

Pavlik would destroy Froch inside the first 6 rounds IMO. Froch is far to open and his single shot strategy would not trouble Pavlik in the slightest. Forget about the size difference or the talk of his power, i very much doubt he hits harder than Marinda or Taylor, two much more skilled fighters than Froch, and Pavlik took there best and just kept comming all night long. He'd destroy Froch with little trouble IMO!!!

It would be a pasting :box:

The thing with Froch is he can be lazy at times whilst Pavlik can throw a hundred punches a round. I'd say Pavlik pts or late stoppage. One thing I know for sure is that Froch would give Pavlik more of a fight than Lockett - with all respect to Lockett.

Yes, you already stated you think Froch would win by KO 2 or 3 posts above.

I don't think it would be as cut and dry as Stupot suggests, but I'd fancy Froch on points.
He is still somewhat of an unknown quantity, but he has a lot of talent and can punch.
Would be a good fight.......
