Tommy Gilmour Junior, manager of Commonwealth super-featherweight champion Craig Docherty, has blasted Alex Arthur's comeback opponent on March 27, Michael Kizza of Uganda.
Gilmour has lined up Ghana's Kpakpo Allotey for Docherty next month in Glasgow - a man who knocked out Kizza last year.
"Alex is making backward steps," said Gilmour. "He's fighting Kizza and we're fighting the man that knocked out Kizza in a proper title fight."
"I think that shows the ambition of Craig and where he sees his career moving.
"He doesn't want to fight second-rate fighters. He wants to fight the very best and he's fighting all these tough men from Ghana.
"I think that, like it or lump it, the number one contender for the British championship at this particular time is Craig Docherty."

i cant see alex having any probs against this kizza guy. i mean after all uncle frank isnt going to sacrifice one of his prime golden geese after his last outing. and obviously tommy gilmour wouldnt want docherty to run the risk of losing to alex.
as for tommy gilmour stating his man doesnt need arthur. well maybe he does and maybe he doest. and i dont know if i would place docherty above arthur. id have them both equal just now. this could well be a fight a year or two down the line, letting the money build up, attracting the interest. lets just hope it doesnt go the same way that hatton and witter seems to have disappeared
one thing for sure is that this would sell out just about any venue in scotland. anyone who remembers the build up to the arthur/limmond fight and the edinburgh/glasgow rivalry during the evening of their bout would be licking their lips in anticipation at these two meeting. would certainly be the biggest fight in scotland since the jim watt/kenny buchanan days. it would probably be one of the domestic scraps of the year too.
