also is it true that a lot of these fights, and there are a lot of Buck smith fights 224, won 179 lost 19 2 draws, were not smith fighting or made up names.

He fought last year according to the records but was it him or not.

Buck Smith brings back a lot of memories of Midwest boxing during the 1990's. He's listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for most consequtive wins (100+). Granted, the opposition he faced was hardly world class, but the guy laced 'em up for a living, fighting over thirty times a year at his peak. At one time he was ranked as high as 5 or 6 in the world by the WBA and won a decision over former Olympian Robert Wangila--who, incidentally, later died following a fight a year or so later. He turned pro by basically being picked out of the crowd to replace a fighter who couldn't go--never having boxed before in his life. He dropped a four round decision that night but didn't lose again for a long time after that. A few years ago he was caught up in a federal probe investigating fight-fixing, though he was cleared of wrong doing. He was without a doubt the most gifted fighter of the so-called "Knucklehead Boxing Club" of Oklahoma that included Verdell Smith and several others. I actually saw him fight once. Very skilled. Surprisingly so for being largely self-taught.

He came over to England in the some years ago and was being soundly beaten by Kirkland Laing but then suddenly flattened Laing with a single punch. His record is certainly interesting though it contains more corpses than a cemetry, not to mention the same fighters over and over, sometimes with aliases.
