Completely wrong nicknames.....
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
He has hardly avoided black fighters??
Perhaps he doesn't like Witter for other reasons than his colour

Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
I'm just saying that aside from his carfuly crafted public image that he's not such a nice liklle lad! I don't know if he is but have seen more evidence to suggest that than to suggest the opposit.teddy007 wrote:You cannot call someone a racist becuase he liked bernard manning and wouldn't fight junior witter......loljosh fg wrote:Well friends with Bernard manning, refuses to fight Witter because he doesn't like him... and definitely a city fan.teddy007 wrote: You make that statement like theirs some truth in it.....yes we know he's fat but the other bit.
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
Give me a counterpoint, I said I have seen more evidence to say he is than to say he isn't! Junior witter has said the same.

You talk to Ross Minter , Francis Jones, Stuart Elwell, Ali Nuumbembe etc.. and ask them if he's magic or not......now you see him, now you don't..........teddy007 wrote:worst nickname of all time Matthew "MAGIC" Hatton...... he should get done under the trade descriptions act.
MAGIIIIC!
......just like that!
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
I've never seen Hatton being racist, if Witter has said this it is prob just as much to do with him being bitter that Ricky won't give him a payday

Its hard to say you just get a bit of an attitude round hatton that if he wasn't so well media managed he'd come accross as a compleet scally prick!

All sounds like sour grapes, Witter has always needed Hatto for a payday and Ricky has always had bigger fish to fry
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
Bigger fish such as Lazcano, Urango, Stewart, Vilches, Pedersen, Rios....? he's been avoiding Witter since the Stephen Smith days, Hattons had plenty of opportunities to take the fight. Hatton chose not toCoco wrote: All sounds like sour grapes, Witter has always needed Hatto for a payday and Ricky has always had bigger fish to fry
I don't agree with the racist comment BTW
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
Either he wasn't bring anything to the table, title wise, or when he had the WBC strap Hatton was having big paydays off HBO,HBO would never have employed Witter.Chambers2 wrote:Bigger fish such as Lazcano, Urango, Stewart, Vilches, Pedersen, Rios....? he's been avoiding Witter since the Stephen Smith days, Hattons had plenty of opportunities to take the fight. TV have not been interested in him, and he can't pack out a minibus
Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
What about when he was manditory for the British title or when the rivalry was at its peak and he was fighting Mike StewartCoco wrote:Either he wasn't bring anything to the table, title wise, or when he had the WBC strap Hatton was having big paydays off HBO,HBO would never have employed Witter.Chambers2 wrote:Bigger fish such as Lazcano, Urango, Stewart, Vilches, Pedersen, Rios....? he's been avoiding Witter since the Stephen Smith days, Hattons had plenty of opportunities to take the fight. Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
I'm not saying that Hatton didn't avoid Witter, but he didn't avoid him cause he thought he would get beat.
Hatton always chose the route of high reward, low risk(other than Tszyu)
He simply didn't want to give Witter the payday he craved, and in fairness we were hardly robbed of a Benn v Eubank superfight, his performance v Bradley showed that

How many fans did Pedersen, Vilches, Rios etc bring to Manchester, were the amount of fans the key to the fight? no, so why should they be for a Witter fight. The same argument stands up for TV interest as well.
Hatton-Witter would have generated more interest from fans and TV than 90% of his fights. He could have fought him when Junior had the WBC belt, but he went for Lazcano followed by Mallignaggi (sp). There have been plenty of other opportunites when he fought the fighters I named in my previous post, it's gone on since the turn of the century.
Hattons had ample opportunites to shut Junior up and get him out of the way, but he's chose to go other routes

Re: Completely wrong nicknames.....
Like most on here I have always been of the opinion that Hatton should have fought Witter.
For whatever reason, right or wrong, Hatton just didn't like the fella and didn't want to hand Witter a nice payday and a profile that this matchup would have entailed.
But to put a racist slant on this is totally out of order. So what if Hatton was friendly with Bernard Manning - I'm sure most of us know people that have some abhorrant views that we do not share but still remain friendly. This type of politically correct thinking is of the kind that puts 2 an 2 together to make 5.

Its nothing to do with being working class. That's the same attitude that says its okay for catholics to be sexist cos its just there religion its still not acceptable. I have people who I've considered to be friends who are racist and to be honest I think less of them for it and tend to say he's a racist but he's still a good bloke other than that. However hatton has defended Bernard Manning from accusations of racism which leads me to conclude that he thinks that those attitudes are acceptable.
I don't know if he is or isn't but I do think that behind the laddish exterior and the isn't he a nice boy media persona lies someone who isn't such a nice fellow. I also think that Witters comments about it probably came from somewhere.

You posted that he was a friend of Manning, didn’t fight Witter (a black man) because he didn’t like him and is a City fan. Putting all these things together you came to a hard and fast conclusion on him. Now you’re backtracking by saying that you don’t know whether he is or isn’t racist.josh fg wrote:Its nothing to do with being working class. Since you seem to have an elevated attitude on what’s acceptable or not I think you need to be certain of all the facts before coming to such quick assumptions based on loose associations because that isn’t entirely acceptable either.
As regards Hatton not being such a nice fellow – what fighter is? For that matter, behind the media friendly bubbly exteriors of television personalities I think you’ll find they aren’t quite as nice either. What person is? Most people have a darker side to their personalities. It is almost a pre-requisite for a fighter and I am sure most fans understand that.

Scott "The Disciplined" Harrison has to be the best on the list. I really do love your stuff. My wife and I still have a laugh about the "2 sticklebacks and a slice of Warburtons" from that superb epic post "Why I think religeon is shit by Stuart Chambers".
