Thanks for the update NYboxing. Wasn't sure if the card was cancelled or not. I hope Jerry did well tonight.

Belmontes fight was scratched Saturday night after three different opponents were rejected by state boxing commission officials.

Was the guy who was supposed to be making his pro debut rejected by the commission? It sounds like Belmontes handlers were trying to bring a journeyman for his fight. Hopefully he'll be getting another fight shortly.

Clarence - who is your manager? That is a tough debut to box a guy who is 3-0 and a former top amateur.

Maybe not a bad move for him. He has won two national titles this year and has appeared in Sports Illustrated. A camera crew from Ireland or England followed him around at the NGG. So he has had a lot of publicity recently and he might as well jump while the fire is hot. He is not one of the guys that is too young either since he is 23. Probably the perfect time for him to turn pro!!!

Good Luck Dan.

I'd say it's a tough fight for both early on in their careers...

DANNY IS CONSIDERED ONE OF THE HOTTEST PROSPECTS
.

All the boxers with good amateur credentials are marketed as "hot" prospects. So being "one of" adds Danny to a fairly long list. I'll reserve judgement until his management stops record padding and he begins fighting opponents who will actually test his abilities.

THATS TRUE, BUT DANNY FOUGHT A SOUTH PAW GUY WITH FORTY FIGHTS AND HAD A WINNING RECORD THATS NOT TO BAD OF A TEST FOR HIS 6TH BOUT.

I wouldn't put his opponent in the "good test" category. All but one of his wins have been in Nicaragua; he has lost every fight he's competed in the U.S., and he's 36 years old. I'm still going to reserve judgement until his records stops being padded.

Danny Garcia was a good amateur and should be a good pro. Will he become a champ? That is hard to answer at this point, but it is not out of the realm of possibilities as does have significant skills.

danny garcia is the hottest prospect out there, he just fought a guy who was a former world , champion contender, i dont care if the fights were here, there, or any were. if u have a skill level of that high it dont matter, and it was a great test for danny cause he never went the distance before and he did with a world class fighter, so therefore again u guys are not giving him the credit he deserves, just like everyone did wen he was amatuer, look at any of the other prospects, danny id doing way better then any of them!!!

Not taking anything away from Garcia, but the guy ur talking about, Julio Gamboa, was 0-6-1 in his last 7 fights going into the Garcia fight. He also challenged for a titles at 115 lbs. and he fought Garcia at 140, and his title bouts were about 8 years ago.

Once again im not taking anything away from Garcia, he fought a tough smaller guy in only his 6th fight and he is 20. Im jus saying this opponent should not be stretch into a world class boxer

Garcia is good, too early to tell how far he'll go, but it works that way with every fighter wether they went on to win world titles or be a total bust, until they step it up you can't tell.

BTW Top Canadian amatuer "Gorgeous" Andre Gorges turned pro on Saturday (July 20th) winning by first round knockout in Detroit. Gorges won the Ringside World Championships 3 years in a row, compted internationally many times, and was runner up to Adam Trupish at the 2006 nationals. He had a record around 130-20

You can read an article on him here http://www.sportssummary.com/boxing/sto ... sDebut.htm
