Leading on the cards, but decides to retire himself after 6 rounds - Odd way to bail out, but I think it's fair to say that McCullough was always going to be the type of fighter that needed to find it out in the ring.

Personally, I felt he stayed in the game a few years too long - He Proceeded to announce his retirement (at least he will be off Horse's list now)

Wayne has been my favourite fighter since the Commonwealth Games days and I has stayed my favourite fighter ever since..im not going to go into a eulogy just yet, just need to say is thankyou for the journey, Boxing has rarely seen such a warrior, British and world boxing will always remember you, your heart and talent will never be forgotten.

Now its time to move onto the next section in your life with Cheryl and Wynona, all the luck, im sure you wont need it!

Was this fight shown on TV anywhere? I'm interested to see what exactly made Wayne quit. The other guy seemed short, durable but not much of a puncher. On paper it didn't look like the kind of match that would end McCullough's career. Didn't seem like another Larios. Maybe Wayne just felt empty in there. I truly hope he stays away for good now and uses his expertise in other fields (training and commentary to name two).

Judging by what he was saying before the fight, I'd imagine this is truly the end. Can't see him going back on his word and thinking he's still got something he now clearly hasn't.

McCullough will have moved up to number five now, just behind Scott Harrison and Alan Minter.

Rhodes will be at number 29.

I'm actually surprised by this on lots of scores.

1) I didn't think Wayne would ever quit on the stool, not that I am doubting his bravery (how could I)... always thought he would need to be carried out before stopping.

2) Didn't think Wayne would retire after such a fight to get his licence back.

3) And possibly more crucially - I didn't think Wayne, after a 3 year lay off, would be competitive against such a tough comebacking opponent.

Its a strange one, but reminds me of Nigel Benn... I think maybe wayne wass in there and just realised that he didnt want it anymore... hope that is really it for him... kind of a shame though that his career ended on that note but the writings been on the wall for wayne for some time, he should have quit after the Larios fight...

Is it true Henry Cooper is still just inactive rather than retired on Horse's list? I mean he holds a close loss to Bugner who fought as recently as 2001....so you know, technically.....
