I just saw this in the guide - tape-delay broadcast on the military channel:
Coverage of the 2008 All-Army Boxing Championships at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., featuring the Army's best boxers competing for the Army championship title and a chance to make the USA Boxing Team.
I know the listing for the description of the telecast is incorrect, but for those interested in watching some amateur boxing, they are showing it a couple of times over the weekend, check your local listings.
In New York, the Military channel on Cablevision is channel 173. I will taping it if anybody is interested.
Military channel
Re: Military channel
Thanks for the info, however I don't think I can get that channel. :( The All-Army Championships determine who competes in the Armed Service Championships for the Army. In an Olympic year, the winners of the Armed Services get a slot in the Olympic Trials. In a non-Olympic year, the winners advance to the U.S. Championships. They do not "make the U.S. Boxing team."
Re: Military channel
that is why I put a disclaimer - that was from the guide, and I knew you would say something.
During the telecast (3 hours worth), all they kept mentioning was they were would have a shot at 2008 team, too bad the team was picked the year before. Overall - great production![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Military channel
I watched a little bit of the show. THey had some pretty solid and competitive fights.
If they win this they fight in the Armed Forces tournament, and if they win that they get a spot in the US Nationals.
If they place in the top 8 at Nationals then they earn their spot in the World Class Athletes Program, which is what they're basically fighting for in a non Olympic Trial year

NYboxing - you did put in a disclaimer, didn't you! Sorry, I missed it. Glad you know me so well, too. :P
Jtyson - thanks for the comments - didn't know that's that's the procedures for a non-Olympic year.
