I think he can win a world tile, but he needs guiding very carefully - Alex Arthur type of guidance.

To make it clear. I meant Khan said he would be world champion (one of the big four) by the end of the year.

It's going to take him another 2 years at least. To be honest I don't think he'll ever be anything.

For some reason i can see him fading out in the next 2 years if none of the titles are vacant im sure warren wont be putting him in with anyone with real class anytime soon or he will fight for a title get whupped and retire.

Well they will find him a vacant WBU title probably at 140 and bring in some 35+ year old who had his best days at 130/135... so I think he will win a 'world title' but I dont think he will ever win a genuine world title or have the success of a Hatton or Calzaghe because even against journeymen and light punchers Khans chin will eventually catch up with him...

He could easily pick up a world title which is vacant but with Nate Campbell, Pac-man and Joel Casamayor at the top of the tree its hard to see him getting one anytime soon. BUT I still think he's a good prospect - he just needs more experience and seasoning and maybe it hit home to himself that he isnt as good as he thinks he is and needs to imrove which isn't a bad think. He seemed quite disappointed in himself which is a good sign. I think a good match-up for him next would be Javier Jauregui or Armando Santa Cruz.

I've tried to be kind to Khan but after tonight I think his chances of holding a genuine world title are slim. Unless he goes back to the drawing board and starts again I can't see him getting past European level.

Really he needs to change his style and become a jab and mover... but that would hurt his appeal... quite simply though he hast got the durability to make it at the top level... he's been hurt by journeymen and faded domestic fighters... he simply wouldnt last long with any of the top guys at 135 or 140... Manny would just destroy him...

That was a good fight for him IMHO Gomez gave him just about all he could take and he learned something, yes gomez is a featherweight, yes he is old but he is experianced knows every trick in the book and is a game inside fighter. Khan could have probably found a more impressive sounding lightweight name who would have given him less trouble but he would have learned less. So credit where it is due this was the perfect fight for allegedly to give him at this stae, he won but he had been in enough of a fight to put title asperations on the back burner.

When Khan was in real trouble (when he took the big shot to the ribs in round 4) he came back with a terrific combination really backing up Gomez which showed heart. He also showed athleatacism which we know he has, however is strikes me that he fights like someone with only one idea and when it doesn't go right he is slow to chainge tactics and in this fight he needed to use his jab lot more which he didn't do.

In answer to the question I think he has the raw talent to do so but his talent remains raw an he really needs to show imporvement in certain areas particularly his defence (which is the cause of his KDs more than his chin) and his tendancy to jump around before he should think of taking on someone in the top 5 in the world.

Khan needs a decent trainer who will work on getting him to use his physical advantages.

For a fighter who's above average height for a lightweight, big for the weight and has great handspeed, his defence Is awful and can be pushed on the backfoot.

Khan was given a bit of a humbling experience last night. He was shown where he really is at in his career and his fighting style. He may appreciate the matchmaking and the handicapping that went into the Earl & St Clair fights. I think this fight was maybe designed to show him how much he needs Warren to guide him with care.

My worry is, why do fighters/promoters have to fool everyone so much?

Wouldn't it have been better to have given Amir a learning curve that would have improved him each fight? Rather than making him look better than he is, and letting it get t Khan's head that he's "world class" & ready for a WBO title shot?

Of course, Khan can win a world title, to answer the thread title. He will either have to get an opponent at the right place/right time, or else be developed into a world class fighter via purposeful matchmaking.

Khan needs to stay with FW to ensure he gets suitable matchmaking.
In fairness he is just so fast and talented and looks to have a great fighting heart.
With correct matching I think he will
Obviously his chin is an issue, but I think his other talents could outweigh this.
David Haye is def a bit chinny, look a the Mock fight, and Khan has more stamina, but not his one shot power
