Well I doubt they'll do another deal with Warren/Khan they way he'd slagged them off over the last few months, but I don't think its the end of ITV boxing, I reckon they'll cherry pick fights from now on and not sign extended deals. I wouldn't be surprised to see Carl Froch's next fight on ITV.

Hope you're right Don, but I honestly think ITV have had their fill - and the budget's been blown on Footie.

FW said khans next fight is the 06th Sept so does this mean he has extended his contract or what ?
Re: end of boxing on itv?
I hope it's the end, not showing the undercard is physically sickening.

Gentleman Jim's been let go, right?? Surely that dosen't bode well. I think last night was to be his last ITV gig, provided they were leaving boxing.

the pryce..portman fight was pathetic.....thats not going to interest anyone...awful
Re: end of boxing on itv?
I believe that he can still be used on a free lance basis (which shows maybe how regularly ITV will show boxing now).the konformist wrote:Gentleman Jim's been let go, right?? Surely that dosen't bode well. I think last night was to be his last ITV gig, provided they were leaving boxing.
Also with ITV signing Craig Doyle (not sure why he has been signed) I think Matt Smith will become increasingly more available.
However, have to say it didn't bode well - there wasn't good vibes.
1) Barry being brutally honest.
2) Jim's "goodbye from the ITV boxing team" at the end.
3) No hint for any other shows.
Re: end of boxing on itv?
you can add the Khan gomez weigh in being on setanta live to that list stu...

I contacted ITV , and they said that at the moment they have 'no confirmation of any future Amir Khan fights on ITV' . And just said to look at the boxing part of their website to see if any boxing will be shown in the future.
Not exactly encouraging, i'd take it that ITV are not that keen on boxing.

Seems obvious they will end up on Setanta which is a shame for boxing as a whole - Regardless of what we think of Khan and his progress, he is good for the sport of boxing being on ITV.
Re: end of boxing on itv?
It'll add more weight to justifying my subscription
Re: end of boxing on itv?
I think Setanta's already very good value.
Re: end of boxing on itv?
I currently (post premiership) watch it only for fights. Saying that, they keep announcing big fights dont they! I'dbe daft enough to pay sky £15 for cotto margarito, thats for sure.
Emerson, dont forget my t-shirt.

Have to say though, am a little dissapointed at the lack of European boxing being shown on Setanta.... I am dissapointed that have dropped the EBU Heavyweight title bill now that Skelton isn't on it. For my money, the main event is now more intriguing with Vidoz there - plus there is Herbie Hide on the Undercard.
Re: end of boxing on itv?
I agree, they should still show what's left of the card. As you say, if they are "the new home of boxing", they shouldn't neglect the European scene.stujones wrote:Have to say though, am a little dissapointed at the lack of European boxing being shown on Setanta....
