Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Apparently he won by a 12th round stoppage on Saturday, against Dimitri Sartison I haven't seen Sartison fight so wonder what this performance means for where Kesslar is at. Impressive to come back for a title. Also what does this mean for froch's chances of getting a title?
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Sartison was hurt very badly and needed medical treatment, so does anyone know how he's doing? And Kessler would beat Froch for me.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Apparently Kessler dished out a severe beating. I hope Sartison is okay.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Good to see Kessler back in action. Top class fighter. This WBA halway title is his first foothold back to the top of the division (when Calzaghe vacates and the others blets will be up for grabs). I think there's going to be lots of good fights at 168. Kessler will probably stay busy, as he has to fight Haussler in the next 4 months.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Kessler will be a dominant champ at super middle for a few years yet, I reckon. Of the current crop I can only see Froch beating him.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
haussler is absolute crap, trust me, never seen a fighter that has developed such a decent record with such limited ability, trust me on that.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Haussler has beaten some decent names - legitmately aswell. I know what you are saying though. I think he just about warrants a title fight, but will get beaten up.
Bute vs Kessler is the fight I would like to see - the only fighter I think can beat Kessler (and I say CAN, not saying he will).... well him and Pavlik.
Don't think Froch and Lacy have much of a chance.

Kessler can sure punch!
Kessler moves around too well for Pavlik to win.
Pavlik's dominant at Middle, but he hasn't shown his size will give him any dominance at Super Middle.well him and Pavlik.

Could see Froch losing on points Andrade like where Kessler has to constantly move on his feet to outbox Froch and keep him back.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Kessler is a quality act. Not sure how Haussler got a WBA shot though. Is Kessler WBA champ again? What happened to Mundine? Down to Middleweight?
Haussler was last in line for an IBF shot i thought (which is why Sauerland signed Berrio) but then he lost to Bute. Stieglitz lost to Andrade in an eliminator and next he fights Bute.
It's so bloody confusing

Just watching the fight now. Kessler was knocked back, he bent his legs, then continued. He wasn't at all shaky and had nothing to recover from. He was just stunned for literally a second.
He's looking really good so far.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
I'd prefer Lacy v Ward first, Battle of the Olympians. Winner fights Taylor.
Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Kessler v Lacy would be on a par with JC's punchfest!
Lacy cant hit moving targets, Kessler would bombard him all night.

Re: Kessler Wins Back WBA title
Calzaghe finished Lacy. I think Lacy would just be trapped on the end of Kessler's jab. Would be a fairly repetitive fight.
Maybe Kessler could stop him late. He does hit hard and straight. If Kessler has been learning how to fight inside, then he could actually give Lacy some opportunities up close.
Lacy is one of those fighters like Miranda who have a short prime, look devastating for a few fights. But then after they peak it's all downhill. They pick up a loss or two and that's it.
Not many bully fighters seem to respond to defeat too well. Apart from Benn, of course, who was better for beatings handed to him by Eubank and Watson.

Kessler's an amazing fighter and he's Calzaghe's best victim so far - he's going to unify 168lbs withing a year or two and will eventually take on, and beat Kelly Pavlik for me. He's that good.

You mean you can tell from the title who won?Terry D wrote:SPOILER! :x

Kessler would beat Froch, but Bute and Pavlik would be tough ones to call. Some tasty fights if they get made.

Andre Ward is moving in the right direction, i thought his career was going slowing but didn't realise he's only 24 so plenty of time left.
Andre Dirrell was impressive last time out, he's another to keep and eye on, in a year both of these would be hard fights for Kessler

Keep off the Current scene (shouldn't be difficult*) there's an unspoilered thread that would ruin your final Monday night fight.Terry D wrote:Too late, I've signed the contract, a hit man is on the way.josh fg wrote:Sorry TerryTerry D wrote:SPOILER! :x
Ps I'm insanely grumpy today, probably should have steered clear of boxing forums!
I was on the current scene earlier having a mini-pop at a bell end called Verballistic because he was talking gobshite about Vitali having no heart (despite VK wanting to carry on when he needed over 100 stitches in his face) and he comes back with.... "that's your problem...you think too much...go back to smooching with your boyfriend unless you can bring something constructive!!" He's telling me to be constructive and then he's saying I should go back to smooching my boyfriend

Sorry Terry, but you've got to admit looking at a boxing forum probably isn't the best way to avoid seeing results.Terry D wrote:So, Ward won as well did he. Two down, only need someone to PM me the Arreola result and that is my 'live' Monday night boxing down the shitter.Old bones Ian wrote:Andre Ward is moving in the right direction, i thought his career was going slowing but didn't realise he's only 24 so plenty of time left.

(Please do not PM that result, the other two were likely to go Ward/Kessler, this one may upset the cart)
