Khan will progress because the fights will get harder, and he will be forced to adapt, just like every other young prospect. He may even lose before he gets to a world title, and you know what, it's no bad thing.
Khan has flaws, which can be improved, but he is likely going to be easy to hit and hurt throughout his career by bigger punchers, but that is not to say he cannot win a world title.
I would give him a chance against Campbell now, he is so much quicker than most of the other lightweights out there.
We need to see him in with a genuine contender, or older former lightweight champion before we can be sure about his credentials, but he has world class speed and his punch accuraccy is exceptional considering his handspeed.
It's easy to knock Khan, and yes, he has had a relatively easy ride, but this is par for the course for our fighters over here. He is a prospect and therefore a little protected, but so what, that doesn't mean he can't go on to win a world title.
To the first question, no. Casamayor is an old war horse who has seen a billion different styles. How has Khan got anything to remotely worry Joel? Khan's power has already been exposed- and he hasnt fought beyond fringe euro level! at least katsidis proved he had more power than his misleading record of banging out all those stiffs suggested because we know Casamayor is tough as hell.
To say that kahn would give him trouble in the first few rounds would imply he is actually able to stick around. Casamayor would hit him at some point, because khan's defence is leaky.and it would be over. This is a question of levels. I know some people on this board would say 'Oh but Casamayor isn't such a big hitter' - LEVELS. He has mixed in world class most of his career. He has that basic 'world' level of power that most top guys have. And he is way too good not to work out Khan in the first few rounds - as some totally inferior fighters already have come close to doing!
Casamayor would walk through those flurries, again as many other inferior fighters have managed, take some shots, hang tough and land some bombs. Khan might get up after the first one but it would be rinse and repeat until he's saved by the ref.
Nate Campbell - same story. These tough, experienced world level guys who can hit, have good defenses and have proven track records of hanging tough with the best are LEAGUES away from Amir, who has been decked by god knows who, struggled against hasbeens and not really manage to hurt or spark anyone to make me remotely think he has power that he can take to world level.
frailty of his kind does not translate well to top level competition. I would compare him to audley. and to those of you chatting about how he can 'improve', how he needs a new trainer, how he will be ready 'in 12 months time' as if that will make a difference, pleeease for the love of God wake up nothing will ever make this guy capable of competing at top level. If he does I will gladly eat my humble pie.
