BBC are running a headline that JC has split with Warren.

I reckon Calzaghe wants Jones fight on terrestrial ITV and wants to promote it on his own or with front-man. Fill Millenium and maximise pay day.

Just a theory. The top line is true though

He's left it a bit late to go his own way. Setanta's promos have mentioned Calzaghe's next fight, so it might come as a bit of a shock to them.

You know this is the only time I've ever looked forward to reading allegedly's collumn. Thats gratitude for you!

It may be that he wants to be on terrestrial television it may also be that he wants to be on sky box office PPV.

He might want to earn like Hatton did from Sky Box Office, but I can't see a Jones fight doing a million buys in the UK.

No but it could do well. Pity Jones doesn't have a Tarver or Johnson victory in his recent past but hey ho.

Calzaghe is a Legend Killer, don't you know?

Seriously, this has come to late. If he wanted to be the best, he should have left Warren a long time ago, and gone for Hopkins and RJJ and co. back in 2000-2003 etc. When they were all in the primes.

Left it too late..

Just switched on BBC24 & it mentioned this on there. Joe really wants to cash in big for his last fight. I didn't know that Joe's contract had expired. Imagine the hue of Allegedly face when he found out!

I think the Jones fight will still be on Setanta as ITV won't stump as much as Joe would get as a cut of PPVs. I think this makes the Pavlik fight more likely just as long as Arum's willing to put up enough cash. The promotion will be in good hands and Calz can play the co-promoter and cash in. Joe wouldn't be able to backtrack fast enough.

Khan is close to signing with Warren again. At least that's what it says here:

Lazy English is all Autobarn.

That was my suspicion of the motivation on hearing the news. Not a factual quote from either party.

Long as his next fight has decent TV coverage and not PPV, couldn't give a shit If Frank promoted It.

He did 'go' for Jones and Hopkins back then, they didn't want to know.

can see the logic behind Joe wanting a much bigger slice of the cake for his final fight, does it smack of ingratitude a little though? I don't know, or care really. I've got very, very little interest in seeing Calzaghe/Jones though.

Fascinating stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised if JC's head has been turned by the Golden Boy Promotions master plan - turning Joe into a promoter along with Hopkins, Mosely etc, with Oscar sitting at the top of the pyramid.

"Go it alone Joe, you'll be independent etc" but really fighting for GBP.

Cool.

Looks like Joe wants a bigger slice of the pie. Will he be ok on his own negotiating a TV deal, I wonder?

I suppose a massive crowd would turn up to see Joe's last fight, even if it was a Manfredo rematch.

He'll surely have to work with another promoter though, because you can't promote world title fights if you're starting up. That said, he can defend his magazine title, which isn't a sanctioning body, and maybe there is a loophole with the ring title (as opposed to WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF).

Seems a bit too laid back to do well business wise. Even Hatton who split 3 years ago had Hobson, GBP and his Dad helping him out and he's pretty laid back too.
