I think it was 1.5, but it sounds highly unlikely.

He definitely said 1.5, and as soon as he did my phone beeped with a text from MattW! Mr Sports Science 2003 :)

He should be at 4 or 5% shouldn't he?

Everybody has what is called essential fats which line your vital organs. Those alone would make up at least 3 or 4%.

Body builders get down to 4% and if you think about it they are doing this purely to make themselves look as muscular as possible, no athlete ever does this. At the height of my fitness I was swimming at a high level training about 10 hours a week. At that point I was 8% body fat. Once I started University and playing rugby rather than swimming I was tested at 9% in our end of season fitness testing, in my first year.

1.5% is impossible as its less than the vital fat you have in your body. Id say from looking at him at the weigh in he is 6% or around that amount.

Ive been to 3.8% body fat, that was calculated on some scales after finishing sparring few years back (not sure how accurate) but been told far to low.

I used to average 5-6% but again think this is too low also.

Scales? Do you know the name of the machine.... the machines do vary in the accuracy.

Of course Khan could be as low as 1.5% - if the guy measuring it (if he did it via skinfold callipers) didn't know how to measure it, or measure it from the wrong places.

I would imagine though if he was geniune 1.5% then he wouldn't be able to get up from Bed, cause he would be too weak.

I have measured an international athlete with a reading of 4% and it was hard to get the measurement.

No chance Khan was 16% last year either - unless he binges like Hatton out of the ring.

Those scales that run current through you or whatever they claim to do are very spurious, I had a mate who bought some and got on and got one measurement, then stepped off, drunk a glass of water, got back on and suddenly his %age had increased by about 2%.

5 or 6% sounds believable albeit that is very ripped.

Bodybuilders who get down to ridiculously low body fat levels are usually very weak due to being so drained.

Khan must've been misinformed/mistaken.

Thing was this segment was pre-recorded... he had time to think of what he was saying.

I don't see it as a big deal, who cares if he is 1% or 100% body fat - I just want to see what he does in the ring.

I said to Dirk that below 4% can be dangerous for an athlete. Stallone was 3.8 for Rambo 3 and he lived on a diet of tuna and broccoli.

Bale was down to 0.5% for the Machinist and the Production team were worried he would die.

Confused my arse, an athlete knows about body fats and nutrition. Its either he was a) trying to discredit his previous trainer by informing everyone of the fat he'd lost or b) trying to lie to the uneducated general public

It works, but you have little energy. However, it's dangerously low. At 0.5 Bale had to be carried on to the set therefore I find it hard to believe can could box the way he did with an extra percent. Even if he recouped calories beforehand his body would possibly go into shock from the large amounts of food.

No way Bale was below 1% Bodyfat. Not possible, sorry.

People seem to be confusing Bodyfat % and how skinny someone is.

Professional Bodybuilders could possibly get to 5%, but that is ultra rare and very dangerous.

If someone is 10 stone, then 1% bodyfat 1.4lbs of fat in there entire body :o . Sorry, but that is simply not possible.

Anything below about 4% and your internal organs stop working.

Also, measurement by scales are very inaccurate when it comes to BF%. Most use electrical resitance measurments to calculate the percentage. To try this, get measured and then eat a banana. After 60 mins measure again - your result will be different. The potassium in the banana changes the reading due to different resiatance reading

Exactly. We are talking about someone who also thought Michael Gomez was "world class" and that it's acceptable to overtake on a zebra crossing (allegedly!) :o
