I don't think they would have ever fought.

Liston Boxes his way to a wide UD. Foreman had a slight power advantage, but lost out on boxing skills, and jabbing.

Foreman must have been around 21 and Liston anything from 37 to 42.

Looks like the master and his young pup, Foreman looks so young.

Has anyone got actual picture or footage of them sparring?

That is a pair of big, dangerous mofos there. :D

I can see Liston playing Master Yoda to a young Big George - "Trust in the power of the staredown and the right hook, you must..."

As the photo was taken during the period when Liston and Foreman fought on the same cards, 1969-1970, I would say its probably in Las Vegas somewhere.

What a great photo :o

I'd heard they sparred but never seen pictures.
Seem to recall George saying how intimidating Liston was, and how he tried to adopt the same manner in the ring as Sonny.
A hard one to figure out, but in their primes I'd lean towards Big George I think. Liston was a monster, but Foreman might have been the hardest punching heavyweight of them all.

Amazing photo! 8) :o :o :o ....I've got a nosebleed just staring at it and imagining them fighting!!!.
I think the fight would be very very close.... I see Foremen being most dangerous early but if Liston got through the first 5 or 6 rounds then I see him outlasting Foremen and wining by late round stoppage or points verdict.

In fact looking at that photo........is it genuine? Looks like it might be a photo shop job - something about their positions doesn't look right....??

Seif, the Ali - Marciano pic IS real... It's from the filming of a movie. Marciano's wearing a rather disturbingly fake looking wig too. ;)

And if the pic I posted is a fake, they did a damn good job of making it look like... #1 they were both shot with the same camera (close inspection shows identical photo grain) #2 they are both on the same level (crooked cam) and #3 Their height is right on since Foreman is bent up a bit.

The perspective of their feet looks wrong. Sonny's feet look too small compared to Foreman's, like the distance is wrong.
The grain could be easily faked; by taking a photo of the doctored image you'd end up with matching grain on the new image.

Maybe I'm too cynical :-?

It's well known that Liston and Foreman trained and sparred together in the late 60s.... Foreman has talked about it quite a bit and said he took his menecing aura from Liston......
