Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
I didnt know it was Jonte until maybe a week before the fight. We are good friends also but this is a business and if we fought last week or 5 years from now it really didnt matter...If you want to be the best you should fight the best regardless of the timing.Puncher7 wrote:better yet, who is Willis' manager???Dennis wrote:Clarence - who is your manager? That is a tough debut to box a guy who is 3-0 and a former top amateur.
I'd say it's a tough fight for both early on in their careers...
Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
i just heard joey dawejko is scheduled to make his debut september 13th in reading pa. he is fighting at cruiserweight!! good luck joey!!
Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
I think Joey should wait a little longer. He's young and could get some good international amateur experience with his skills.the_one wrote:i just heard joey dawejko is scheduled to make his debut september 13th in reading pa. he is fighting at cruiserweight!! good luck joey!!

joey is a young kid with lots of talent, he should be a good pro, his youth will be good enough to out box his opponents early in his career until his body fully matures, i would like to see him fight at light heavyweight...good luck joey

Walter Sarnoi is having his pro debut on July 25 in So. Cal. Yes, Rick and I are going at $45 each, battling the stop-and-stop traffic on the 91 and 15 freeways just because it's Walter, whom we've known since he was 10, or somewhere around there. He's being coached by Danny Zamora, a good amateur in his day, and Chuck Washington.

Nate James won his pro debut in Germany on the Undercard of Klitschko-Thompson (http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer)
Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
Will Rosinsky is fighting in early August in New York. I thought he had already debuted but I guess not. Also debuting on the card is 2008 NY GG Middleweight champ Phillip Jackson-Benson.

I was under the impression that Rosinsky was going to retire from boxing and start teaching?emile wrote:Will Rosinsky is fighting in early August in New York. I thought he had already debuted but I guess not. Also debuting on the card is 2008 NY GG Middleweight champ Phillip Jackson-Benson.

Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
I read somewhere that Roskinsky thinks he would probably would make the same amount of money giving it a shot at boxing than his first couple of years of teaching. I guess some promoter plans to give him a nice bonus to sign him to a professional contract.

Quantis Graves turned pro last weekend with a 4 round UD victory. Good luck in the future Q.

SEMINOLE WARRIORS BOXING INKS US OLYMPIC TEAM ALTERNATE DANNY O'CONNOR
JUNIOR WELTERWEIGHT PROSPECT TO MAKE PRO DEBUT ON SEPTEMBER 17th
HOLLYWOOD, FL, August 26 -- With the 2008 Olympic Games now in the history books, it's time to look towards the future, and Seminole Warriors Boxing has kick started its run towards the best young talent in boxing today by signing the pride of Framingham, Massachusetts, 2008 US Olympic team alternate Danny O'Connor.
"Danny was an exciting young amateur boxer who is going to make a lot of noise in the coming years as a professional," said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing. "He's got a perfect style for the pro game, and we have very high expectations of him. He's also a great person and a great representative for the sport of boxing."
"I'm excited to be with Seminole Warriors Boxing and this is the right addition to my team, " said O'Connor. "Warriors Boxing has produced a number of champions and I plan on being the next one. I can't wait to get back in the ring and get my career started. "
A 23-year old southpaw known for his ring savvy, boxing ability, and power, O'Connor was a high school wrestling champion who began his stint in the sweet science in 2004. He went on to win four New England Golden Gloves titles, was the National Golden Gloves champion in 2008 and named the Most Outstanding Boxer in the 2008 Future Stares National Championship. Danny scored a dominating victory over eventual 2008 Olympic Gold medalist Felix Diaz of the Dominican Republic on May 29th in a pre Olympic duet meet and finished his amateur career with a record of 95 wins against only 8 defeats. And though O'Connor would drop a hard-fought decision to Javier Molina in the Olympic trials, the 141-pounder was selected as the US team alternate and he traveled to Beijing for the 2008 Games.
Danny is managed by Rob Valle and Dave Keefe who also trains him. Now he begins on his road to glory as a professional, beginning with his debut bout against an opponent to be determined on September 17th in Manchester, New Hampshire .
"This is the best time for any young boxer, " said Margules. "The slate is clean and the whole world is ahead of him. Danny O'Connor is going to do big things in this sport, and we're proud to have him with Seminole Warriors Boxing. "

How did he manage 103 fights in less than 4 years? Jeez.

Craig Baker turned pro with a KO victory earlier this month.
Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
It is much easier when you are successful and can travel to various tournaments. By winning his LBC tourney and going all the way to gold at the US Chp, he probably won 6-9 bouts. Same thing for the NGG - about 5-10 wins. Compete in a couple of international bouts, the Olympic trials, another 1-2 national tournaments and a few club shows and that is over 30 bouts in 12 months.Kolya wrote: How did he manage 103 fights in less than 4 years? Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
Except my old friend Thomas williams has been competing since early 06 at least I would imagine, and is still in the 30-40 fight range. And he's fighting in one of the most active LBCs around. And, on top of that, he's gone not just to major tournaments like Golden Gloves and USAs; where he had to advance through a very populated LBC and region; but also to smaller tournaments like the Title Boxing Tournament and the DC Mayor's Cup; and then Ringside as well.boxmel wrote:He wasn't in Montana? How did he manage 103 fights in less than 4 years? What LBC is he in? And if he started as an adult only two years ago, it's easy to figure out why he doesn't have as much experience as boxers who start when they are 8.Except my old friend Thomas williams has been competing since early 06 at least I would imagine, and is still in the 30-40 fight range. Re: What boxers turrned pro or are turning pro, this year?
He's in the PVA; and like I said earlier, Dan O'Connor only started boxing in 2004. Which is why I was surprised he could reach over 100 fights in 4 or less years.
