What did everyone think of the performances of the TV fighters from yesterdays bill.

I think performance of the day has to go to Cook for his tremendous effort in capturing the European title. He faught excellent and is right in there now with the mix.

Wayne McCullough has excellent options at SB and Featherweight now.

Who would you like to see Cook fight next, I agree with the panel he should consolitate his European belt, maybe against a Calvo or McCullough and then start look at the likes of Bobby Boy Valderez.

Carl Johannson was equally impressive, the guy looks quality - how old is he? Couple more fights and he's ready for Alex Arthur no doubt. My only worry is that he looks a "sweller" and seems a tad small for the weight (Greaves looked a lot bigger). He looks a bit like Michael Brodie in appearance.

He does need some kind of voice lessons, he's got a good style but lack a lot of Charisma in the interviews.

I have given my opinion of the main event on the Harrison thread. I was impressed with his power but not his reaction to taking shots. He took to many punches (considering the opponent). Hersia was determined, but slow and clumbersome. If he can tag Harrison, then so can a Mesi - and he' know what to do when Harrison raises a smile. Perhaps its inexperience, I hope so.

Dissapointed if anything with David Haye - he was wild and swinging and missed more than he landed. Fights like that will force bad habbits.

Mixed views of the Beeb's coverage, I'm glad they showed 4 fights in full and they were all entertaining in their own way. I just didn't really like the Audley lovefest that was going on with Duke, Woodhall and Bunce.

"You'd have to be the real Sonny Liston and Mike Tyson rolled into one to beat Harrison" - what disrespect to do former legends of the heavyweight devision.

"These are world class combinations, none of the missed" says Duke just after to shots clearly fell short.

I wasn't massively impressed with Johanneson. He looked physically strong, but I felt he pushed his punches. I don't think he's going to make it on what little I saw last night, but you can never judge a fighter on one night.
Haye showed punching power again, but he fought better guys in the amateurs. Seems strange how Lee Swaby seems to have been ruled out altogether as an opponent. Don't they want this kid to progress!

Strange thing is he's talking about fighting Thompson by the end of the year!

Harrison looked good to me, that plus his last win put him as arguably the best young prospect in the heavyweight division.
Mesi and Guinn are contenders already, which just shows what a bad state the division is in.
There's going to be 4 titles to aim for in the next two years, and Aud could well win one of them. ( that's assuming his chin is ok )
He looked a little awkward under pressure, but so did Lewis at times.

Johansson was impressive, I thought he looked very strong in there. There seemed a real hard edge about him he must've picked up sparring in Philly USA.
Was he seen as a big prospect before he took off for America?
I doubt he stays here though, unless his American trainer decided to move here.

I don't think Johanneson is seen as a great prospect in the States; a good one, not great. I certainly haven't been reading much about him on the American websites. He lost to fellow pospect Koba Gogoladze on a split decision in Detroit last year (his only loss). At 25, there's still time.

Audley - he did get caught with the odd shot but overall I thought he was impressive. When he decided to go for it, his hand speed, accuracy and power were very good. It seemed to me as if he could have won as he liked...and he did.

Cook - pleased for him. The ref was shocking but that has nothing to do with Cookie. It will be interesting to see what will happen when he comes against someone who is physically stronger than Cyril Thomas, who plan was obviously to try and double up on the jab and just outspeed him. Cook took liberties, was allowed to, and bullied the man into submission.

Haye - a wild performance really. He just looked pissed off and wanted to bash someone. I doubt he will learn anything from that.

Johansson - I thought he looked awkward to be honest. His jab didn't seem to have much snap to it. Obviously has a lot of good qualities though - seems to like a scrap.

I wasn't particuarly impressed with Audley to be honest, his foe was not really much better than the "better" ones he has already faced and Hersisia got through with some decent shots. Harrison looked thoughtful and slow at the start. a better fighter than Hersisia will make him pay for such a tentative unauthoritarian start. Audley's lack of respect for the British scene also annoys me, he says he's moving on and up and he belongs on the world scene and shows a total lack of respect for the British scene. If that's the world scene he was on last night then god help us! Hersisia would struggle to beat Williams, Sprott or Hide he was a slow predictable fighter...the finish was world class but the opponent was not. Harrison should be finishing guys off like that, it is not a nice bonus it should be expected of him now especially at the poor level he was at.

Nicky Cook produced the performance of the night for me, the low blows were a problem and should have been dealt with but he looked strong and fit against a good European opponent, his jab was good and he showed a killer instinct when his man was hurt. The ref was inept but don't we expect that from European refs?! It seems to be the norm, the fact he spoke in Spanish throughout the fight to two none Spanish speaking fighters was unprofessional and the blame must lie with the EBU for choosing him.

David Haye seemed frustrated and wanted to bash someone up but again this is not good preperation for a chamipnship career, he should really have moved on from the "bashing up" stage and needs a durable opponent or someone who hits back to test him further.

Carl Johannson looked impressive, never seen him before and even though he came across pretty docile in the interview he looked classy in the ring. Greaves is a solid foe and the fact he wanted no part of Johannson after 4 or so rounds shows Johannson's punch picking was effective...i would like to see more of him.

Blame allegedly. Anyway, I don't think he needs domestic fights as there are better fighters in Europe.

If you think Hersisia could live with Williams and co then it explains why Audley wants none of the domestic scene.

You're right there. Not sure what other posters saw when criticising Johannson. I'm sure someone suggested he could move down a weight division. If he could make the weight and retain his power yes but he looked filled out against Greaves and talented enough to do very well.

Agreed Matchfixer, i thought maybe i was watching the wrong fight but i was impressed with him a great deal and i wasn't influenced by the BBC either as our TV at work has dodgy sound so we missed half of the fights commentary. On that same note i admit i am becoming a little frustrated with Duke, he was a refreshing change at first but seems to be settling into the mould of a BBC conformist like Richie Woodhall has done. At least Bunce speaks his mind, Duke let's his heart rule his head sometimes and doesn't think rationally, he gets caught up in the moment a little too often.

Stujones you should listen to what they said about Richel. They made the point about Sonny Liston and Mike Tyson because his nickname is "The Dutch Sonny Liston". They realised it was going to be very difficult for him to win and that is why they said he'd have to been both boxers rolled into one. But basically manipulate anything you hear about Audley. Shame you failed to mention his interview he which he recognised the belt did not mean anything whilst stating that "he has just got promoted from division one to the premiership".

Yes he did say that, but i don't think he has been. The WBF is a Dr. Martens league belt :P

Yes, Steve we all know your views on the belt as well as Audley and basically any British fighter. But I like I mentioned in my post just like Audley stated in the interview - the belt don't mean shit. But by all means continue to go on and on about the belt. Heres a thought in your next post about Audley you could suggest that Audley would now feel that he was the genuine world title holder and that it is likely he'd announce his retirement in the coming months.

Look mate i take your point, as you probably know i DESPISE 99% of the "World" titles out there but my post about the WBF was made in jest, sorry if i upset you. But on an Audley topic i am still unconvinced, i was an Audley fan to start with and i hope he does well but his talks of greatness and promises are just that until he steps up in class. Make no mistake he has NEVER so far in his career fought in a reasonable class, his fights in America were a joke - all three of them and i hope to god he got some good sparring out there cause his actual fight sure as hell didn't help his cause. I hope he makes something of himself but for god sakes do it quietly and stop telling us what is GOING to happen in his usual third person way and just go out and fight someone who will hit back Audley, PLEASE?! :o

I won't hype up Richel either though he was game to some extent. I certainly wasn't happy with the bout originally and will agree with most that I'd prefer him to have been going for a domestic belt. But hes basically got no options on the domestic scene. Skelton - Sprott coming up and Hide - Williams coupled with the fact that Warren is being an arse.

I'm just interested to see whose next oponent will be and I will be alot more critical if it is someone on par with Richel. His next bout should enable him to move further up the European rankings. I crave a bout which will silence his critics or otherwise expose Audley.

The way he finished him off was impressive whilst some of the shots that Audley took will hopefully stop people from using the "lethal" jab of Krence to knock his chin.

Keith Long - I believe he's significantly better than Hersia. He'd know how to follow up attacks and has a better chin.

Significantly better than Hersisia, based on what exactly?

Based on the fact that I respect the views of Dutch Windmill and he's been labelling Hersia chinny.

Based on the fact that the fight with Williams was set at a much higher temp and when he caught Williams he knew how to follow up the attacks. Lets not forget Danny was going through an excellent patch before that fight and it might have been a direct result of that tough fight that he started the decline. It was 12 tough rounds and Keith looked more impressive in that fight than Sprott did in either fight 1 or fight 3 with Williams - taking into account the physical shape and near mental breakdown of Williams in the third match.

Long blows hot and cold, but I believe that is primarily due to inactively. Admittedly, I'm not sure I would like to see him fight Harrison at this moment in time, he needs a few warm up matches first - but I believe he beats Hersia comfortably.

Based on what I've seen on my tv I am of the opinion that Keith Long is a much harder man to beat than Hersisa.

Keith Long would not be a forward step at this point, although it would perhaps give him a few rounds.

I think he's right to look to the european scene and fight for that title, he won't get a crack at the British title anytime soon. If he wins the EBU belt (and I think he will) then the British guys can challenge him for that title perhaps?? That's if Warren is prepared to let his guys fight on a Harrison show. But we all know Warren would rather continue his personal grudge with Harrison than let one of his fighters have a crack at a good payday and a title. He's just sour that Audley didn't sign with him and has been from day 1.

Not updated yet, Stu, as far as I can see. Audley will go to 12 or higher as that's where Hersisia was. Long is not in the top 20.

No, check the EBU computerised rankings.

Hersisia was at 12 and Audley at 16....
